Default somone help me with my lt1

okay i just cant for the life of me get my stuff to run, i put on new headers and otvc wires and new plugs. Then i drove it for a few weeks and the opti went out. So i replaced the opti with a acdelco opti and put on a mezier electric water pump. It took forever to get my car to start, it would turn but not crank all the way, finally i get it started today and the thing runs like crap. I push on the accelerator and the engine will rev but the RPM's will only be at like 2k but it will sound like its around 4500 or 5k. I havent tried to drive it yet because i want to figure this out. It shakes and almost dies sometimes also. Basically it runs like crap. Any suggestions on what i should look at? I want to get this thing fixed so i can start driving it again. My next option is to just pull the motor and try to see what the problem is.

Hmmm. one of my friends has a 1992 Firebird and after he installed the headers, his car did something like this. I went to his house and I found out that the spark plug wires werent located right and had melted to the headers and was arching to the steel. You might check and see if your spark plug wires arent touching the headers. Just a thought....

i just finished looking at all of my wires and they looked okay, i think im going to pull them all off and inspect them each, see if i have any splits or melting spots. I know that none of them have touched my headers i double checked that but a couple of wires were rubbed by the alternator/belt because they were too close, dont know if that has anything to do with it, they didnt break open, just filed down a little bit.

yup, just put a brand new coil on it too.

Would i be running shitty if maybe i had a hole in my exhaust/headers? I bought the AIR/ERG headers and i had to get some pipes of a 96 to connect all of the air hoses, maybe i have leak along there somewhere that could cause it to run bad?

well im going to have to check the fuel pressure, but i know its priming. Would it run this bad if one or 2 of my injectors were going out?

okay so today i pulled off all the plugs on my pass side and 2 of the wires had been rubbed down to the insulation by the alternator. So i taped them up and re-wired them around so they wouldnt rub anymore. Now the car starts up right away but when i push the gas it only gradually accelerates and when it does accelerate then engine will rev up high but the RPM gauge wont go about 2k. Would a bad O2 sensor cause this or do you think i need a tune with the headers/ory and electric water pump?

ICM. Try that if it is not the Coil pack. It's very sneaky and most people forget about them.

You have an Electrical problem with that Water Pump and how it's wired. Check into that if your problems started after that Pump was put in.

its got a new coil on it, and it starts now, it just idles/runs like crap. When i go to rev it it is really sluggish and wont rev, when i press on the gas steady the engine will rev but the RPM's on my gauge never go about 2k and it sounds like its at 5k. Thats why i think its something to do with my fuel, the pump is either about to puke or im running too lean, and i need a tune. Would i need a tune with the few bolt ons that ive got?

No you don't need a tune, you have other problems.

Pulley caught my wires once and made it run like **** too, thats my guess. If you still got the old wires, take the two longest ones and see if you can route them then test it out.

if you had plug wires get wore down by the alternator replace them. they're considered trash at that point.
