Going to look at an LT1 TA tomorrow!
It's a red 1996 Trans Am. 100% bone stock except for an aftermarket CD changer in the glove box. Tan interior, auto, 39,000 miles. The guy is asking $8000 or best offer. I have to actually look at the car in person and then I'll decide whether to make an offer or not. I've been craving a red LT1 TA ever since I wrecked my 1994 TA a few years back. I love my Camaro, but I don't think I'll be totally happy until I replace that TA.
If I end up getting it, I don't know what I want to do as far as mods go. I've been contemplating everything from a nasty turbo setup to keeping it stock (with the exception of some weld draglites because I think they look badass on TA's). It should be fun no matter what direction I decide to take it in.
I'll definitely keep you guys updated after seeing the car in person.

Well, I went and looked at the car. It's pretty much perfect except for the front bumper. I think it's been repainted and there's a spot on the low front bumper where the paint came off (probably in an area about the size of a dollar bill) so the front bumper would have to be repainted. Otherwise the car looked excellent. he was asking $8000 and I offered him $6500. He tried to get me to come up to $6900, but I'm holding firm. He said to let him talk it over with his wife and call him in a couple days. We'll see what happens.

well since drop 96 ta's i see are usually going in the 9 to 12 grand range with an average 80k miles on them id say its a good deal, but if hes already down to 6900 on his 30k mint original drop ta id look a bit closer, but hey on the other hand your a ******* ***** for passing up what could potentially be a mint 30k mile drop 96 ta for what equates to a 400$ difference in price from what your offering to what hes asking. Sorry but i hate low ballers, 6500 your luckey to find a nice beat up 93, everybody always likes to shoot off about how thier 2000$ f bodies but what everyone fails to realize that 6500 even for an LT1 isnt ****. Go punch in 93 to 97 lt1 anything (especially firebird) over on autotrader.com for 7 grand and under and just take a look at the piles that people are acctually getting the money for. If this ta is what it is than just go buy it for the 400 difference, if you dont know if it is a good deal or not than u probably shouldnt be in a 4th gen v 8 car considering you will get as much for a 96 sunfire with the same miles

i dont know about u... but i would bite the bullet on the $400 as long as the title is clear... i mean what could be SO terribly wrong with the motor...? that you cant fix for $3,000-$5,000 that ur getting knocked off normal retail price for this car...

wow that is a steal..
The guy I sold my 94 Z28 to 4 years ago just sold it to someone else last summer for $8,500 and it had 75k miles on it I believe, granted the car had never seen winters and was in great condition, but nothing as great as what you just got.
Just goes to show that depending on who is selling and who is buying these cars, the price differences can be crazy!
