water pump???

Default water pump???

today i finished installin my new opti..new timing chain and reinstalled old water pump! started the car up and drove it for about 1 mile when my temp gauge shot up to redline...pulled over and all water had spilled from engine coolant only bottle by the batterie! could it be the water pump? radiator or fact that filled up with only water? no antifreeze! did it boil? PLEASE HELP!!!

did you bleed the cooling system?

If you didn't bleed the system it will do exactly what you're describing.

It most certainly boiled. While pure water has better heat transfer properties than coolant, boiling point is still 211* (or is it 212*?). So coolant basically serves to expand the spectrum on both ends of the scale. That's not really your problem though. Air in the system will prevent water from flowing so I would look at that first. I myself am having cooling problems but I think mine is in the radiator because I am using the radiator that came with the car I bought and it had a blown head gasket so I'm thinking the radiator is filled with deposits.
