Default Anyone have Hypertech's 160?

Every pic I see of Hypertech's 160 for the LT1 is this one:

But that image name is 1009, and the part number is 1008. Could be a typo, but there is a 1009, for the 92-94 4.3L

So does anyone here have the Hypertech that can verify if that really is how it looks?

Which leads me to this: How important is that bottom check valve? If it doesn't have that, is it really that important? I figure GM wouldn't have it if it didn't serve a fairly important role...

Sorry to make another thread, but editing the initial post's Subject line, doesn't reflect on the forums :\

That's the EXACT reason I was sceptical about getting one.

Yeah, you want to get the LT1 specific one with the elongated stopper on the bottom. Those standard SBC ones won't work.

Don't quote me on this but IIRC it has something to do with recirculating the fluid through the heater core, if someone knows better please chime in

The company I bought mine from did the same thing. They had pictured the one above but sent me part 1008, with the elongated stopper on the bottom. Thats the one you want to go with.

Thanks. If the modding we did to ours (drilled 4 small holes in it) doesn't bring the temp down to where we want it, then I know the Hyper should be alright to get.

The correct part # for the Hypertech is 1008. I've had one in mine for years.
