My LT1 feels slow...
I just bought a 94 TA A4, has a new NAPA motor in it, with around 3K miles on it. I have been reading and see a lot of people with stock setups having traction issues, even when hitting second. Mine won't even sping the tires stomping on it at a stop sign, or chirp in second. Does this sound normal? Anything I should maybe check? At the moment my 2.0 turbo 240sx making 200whp feels faster, and I hope it shouldn't.
Thanks for the help.

I would do an ohms check on all the wires and replace the plugs. Even bone stock it should shred the tires from a standstill.

might be running on 7 cylinders meaning a bad plug and/or wire, but then youd be getting a misfire. You might also have a bad injector, take a stethescope and listen for a tick inside the injector and you have a bad injector. Might want to get a fuel pressure gauge and check fuel pressure. Bad filter maybe

I've heard alot of people that couldn't spin the tires from a stop...IDK if it was the 2.73's or what, but when they powerbrake it it'll spin for days....But mines has 2.73's and even stock if I punched it from a stop it'll light up the tires, with good tires on it so idk.....I say take to the track

I am gonna take it up to the dyno this week on pay day. I can power brake the hell out of it, and it will lay tire for at least 20 yards easily just keeping on the gas. I checked the receipt and part number, and it says it's a 350 CI LT1 from a Pontiac Firebird. How can I tell if I have a 2.73 rear end? Going over the receipt for the install on the motor, only thing changed out was the plugs, still 180K on the alternator which is only giving about 12 volts running, the power steering pump, the water pump, opti-spark, and probably the wires too. I guess I will be making a trip to the Summit store out here and buying up some parts this week. The tranny feels good doesn't feel like it slips or anything, even though it has 180K, is the B&M shiftplus any good for any auto? Also the Opti spark, I can get it through my work, Autozone for $120 after my discount, come with the opti and a rotor, anyone ever used one of these?
Thanks for the help guys.

I wouldn't get an autozone optispark. That is the one thing you shouldn't cheap out on. Everytime I see someone getting an autozone opti, it breaks a month or two down the road.
To see if you have 2.73s.. should be 2,000 rpm at 80mph. If it's way above 2,000, then you have 3.23s. A more accurate way would be pulling the rear end cover off, but it's a pain.

I am sure I have the 2.73 then. Cruising on the hignway around 80 I think it's under or right at 2K. What rear end should I go with? I still want decent gas mileage with better acceleration?

Get either 3.42s or 3.73s..and some might say 4.10s. Don't get 3.23s because that technically wouldn't be an upgrade. Some aftermarket gears allow you to use the same 2-series carrier you have. I would get a 3-series carrier and your choice of gears. I went from 2.73s to 3.42s and still like it. Go to http://www.f-body.org/gears/ to see the differences between 3.42s and 3.73s.. then decide which you prefer.
