Default 95 z28 a4. is it worth it?

hey guys i was wondering if this is a good deal? all opinions are welcome. i found a 95 z28. its red. t-tops. a4. 117000 miles. PS. PW. PL. PB. the power locks don't work. both bumbers have been repainted and don't really match. its not to noticable but you can tell that the bumbers are a darker red. a rib in the drivers seat. (not to bad but getting there). the rear seats has about a 2in rib on the main seam. center consol hinge is broken. the rear deck hinges are broken. (the trunk want stay up). the tires are pretty bald. but i was told the car was all original. but the dealer doesn't know if the exhaust is original. (it sounds throaghter than the stock z28 exhaust.) but other that that its pretty clean. the dealer wants 4895. thats after he went down on the price. it was 5995. the dealer has had it for about 4 or 5 months and told me that people have come and looked at it but nobody bought it.. so thats why he jacked the price down. like i said any comments/opinions are welcome. thanks alot guys.

If it runs strong and the tranny is still in good shape, thats not too bad of a price. I would shoot for around a low $4k range tho. Especialy with the bumpers being different colors and the rips in the interior.

when i first saw the car about 2 months ago. i wanted to drive it but i only had my permit at the time. so the guy was like ill take you on a ride in it and it felt like it ran strong and the tranny was in good shape. it shifted smooth. so ill probably go back with my parents this week and and see if i can test drive it. ( i have my license now.)

Honestly, that sounds a bit high considering all the problems. The hatch is easy to fix, you just replace the hydraulic struts. But the interior problems, plus the indication that it was in a wreck, sounds more expensive. Tires alone are many hundreds of dollars, and that expense is right off the bat.
Remember, dealers don't make that much money on new cars with all the rebates and discounts. They make all their money on used cars, because there is no true way to estimate their value.
If you can get financing, I strongly suggest that you purchase from an individual. JMO, best of luck.

Exactly! You really don't want to buy something that has THAT many problems unless your mechanically inclined and got some cash laying around. Wait for a Fbody in better shape! I know they are out there. You just gotta be patient.

Its a dealer car so hes going to pay a little more for it. And the problems are just cosmetic. Tires arent that exspensive, if both bumpers were painted and nothing else that would be one odd wreck, and the hatch struts are a cheap and easy fix. If it was a person to person sale he could get it for cheaper, but its not, its going to be financed and will end up paying more than a private sale would charge. I have a pretty low modded 94 Formula with 122k on the clock and was offered $6000 for it. It just depends where you live and whos selling it. There could be better deals out there, but you have to do what feels right to you.

yeah. i have some buddys at Advance Auto Parts that said they could sell me some cheap tires and sell me lift things for the hatch. all for the price they get because of working there. and sell it to me because of friendship. until i can get the money to by better tires. they also told me that they knew some professional upholstery guys that would help me with the interoir.

Besides the paint, the rest will be somewhat cheap to fix. I would be more worried about motor and trans. I have seen some 160k mile LT1s run better than 60k mile LT1s. So cosmetic would be the least of my worries IMO. But always keep an eye open.

I would try talking him down to 4300 or so...

I bought a 96 WS6 w/ 85k on it for $4500 in april....of course I had been looking for well over 3 months. I saw some cars that sound much worse than what you're describing for much more money. As far as it being at a dealer, I looked a 98 ls1 formula w/122k and they wanted $5500 for it...so Im sure they can work a little bit on the price.

yeah man i understand what your sayin. i want a camaro really bad. but i think im going to wait. ill probaby go to the dealer with me parents. and see if i can talk him down. get a carfax. and test drive it. plus my mom is good at talkin down the price. she bought a 2001 civic like 3 or 4 years ago and the dealer wanted 13. but my mom got it for 12. or 12.5 somethin like that. so i gonna let her work her magic. lol. thanks for the feedback guys.

there is just wayyyy to much wrong with that car. if you buy it, your just asking for problems. just because the car came up clean on a carfax doesnt mean jack. i would stay as far away from that car as you possibly can.

yeah ater my 2000 convertible got hit and had to be repaired i checked carfax a few months later and they didnt show the wreck and it was pretty substantial..the whole driver side door and quarter panels had to be replaced and the car repainted..6k worth of work and it was not on the carfax..so that doesnt mean anything.
