Mine does the exact same thing. I made it better with a crow bar and prying it a little.

Yep mine too, it's very annoying but only does it on hard accelleration. I would love to know how to fix this, I did however had a muffler shop heat up the pipe to cherry red then took a prybar to give it more clearance. It helped a little but not enough...

Just loosen all the clamps, use a pry bar to pry the side with no clearance down and place a piece of wood ect. to hold it away from the car. With the pressure on the pipe both sides of the Y should be hanging low even though you only have the wedge in one side. Use a floor jack and a block of wood ect. to put pressure on the opposite side, this will tweak the system enough that you will gain plenty of clearance on the side that was making contact. While you have pressure on the system re tighten all the clamps.

Remove the floor jack and wedge and enjoy no rattles.

I take it you don't have poly mounts do you? The block of wood/2x4 trick might work, but you're giving up ground clearance.

Poly mounts and big friggen hammers arent the correct way to fix a clearance issue with exhaust. The problem is that you guys think you can just bolt something onto your car and it should fit perfectly without any adgustements or tweaking. In reality tollerances and fit are different from every manufacturer. Even every F-body built has different tollerances in the way there built from the factory. This is why all the hood, door and trunk hinges are adjustable. Even the unitized chassis structure measurements will vary from car to car when brand new.

You need approx. 1" of clearance to keep the pipe from making contact with the floor. Anyone who keeps the exhaust wedged against there floor board for a little extra ground clearance needs to re think there ride hight.

Were talking 1" of clearance, not the thickness of the 2/4. When you release the wedge and the pressure of the floor jack the pipe will spring back to an extent. It takes approx. 20 minuts and corrects all the problems without any extra money and no big friggen hammers.

If your running long tubes, I have been told its because the after market Y pipes don't use that bushing/bracket set up the stock Y uses. My y hits around some times on acceleration or backing up.

installing poly mounts on mine fixed the problem! but just to let you know! you will feel alot more vibrations from the motor/drivetrain with the polys. but it is alot better than that thump/thump from the ypipe.

used a floor jack on my floorboard and shoved it up about 1" Also ran a 2.5" y-pipe. My only hits once in a RARE while when the clutch goes into a chattering spell. Otherwise it never hits.

My fix to this was to get a stainless band clamp to wrap around the y-pipe at the point of contact. I snaked the clamp through a 4" long piece of heater hose and clamped that heater hose between the y-pipe and the floor. I have had this on there for over a year now with no issues.

I also wrapped the fuel line in that same area with a small piece of starter heat wrap, since the y-pipe comes awfully close to those lines there.
