Default A4 - M6 questions

I had my camaro converted to M6 a few months ago and have a few questions:

When I put the car in reverse.. the reverse lights do not come on.. Im guessing this had something to do with the shifter which is no longer there? How do i fix this problem?

Another question.. I wouldn't need to get the skip shift eliminator would I.. I still have the A4 computer in the car

Id say your back up lights have something to do with the arrangement of the pins in the big round connector that goes on the tranny. But the skip shift shouldn't come on b/c of the PCM thinking its a A4 still. I bet your car is throwing codes out the *** thinking that its still an auto.

On my car there was a connector we had to cut and splice a few wires together that originally ran to the auto shifter. Check out the manual transmission forum here and look at the sticky for 6 speed swaps. There is a link posted in there for an lt1 6 speed swap in one of the first few posts. Thats what we used on my car and it worked perfect.

i have plenty of codes coming up... but thats due to the poor tune after the 355 rebuild.. nothing has come up for the tranny.

thanks for the help guys

I'm surprised it doesn't act wonky having an M6 with an A4 tune. I don't know how the 94+ works, but I have a flag on mine which lets everything know it's an Auto or not. It doesn't remove the tables, but it might disable use of them.

Don't think that'll help you any, but maybe getting a correct tune with eliminating the A4 stuff will help. Could even fix th reverse light problem since the A4 reverse is different.

The tune shouldn't have anything to do with the reverse lights because that is a physical connection and doesn't use a signal from the PCM.

That's not what I meant. I was talking about the shifting section for the A4 and M6. I would assume they have a different plug for neutral safety switch and the like.

Out of curiosity... how much did the entire conversion end up costing you?

Lets see.. I bought a wrecked 96z with a t56 for 2300 bucks shipped to my house so i was able to swap everything over.. plus new clutch for about 450... thats how much the conversion cost

during this process i had the motor in the wrecked z built which is now in my car with that t56

so i guess the conversion cost me around 2700 BUT I parted out that car and made about 1000(could have gotten more but i put alot of stuff like leather seats, chrome wheels, t tops on my dads v6 camaro) plus i have the engine and trans from my z to sell still
