If you are talking about M.P.G, I cannot give numbers but I could see a drop, it depends on how fast you drive, and if you are on the streets hitting red lights ripping off of the lights alot then.....

I just swapped to the HC setup and also added a 3.73 with a A4. I used to get 18-20 mpg with a 3.23 and since I did that along with a tune I'm now getting 14-16 mpg. And that's driving it easy.

I'm getting about 14ish mpg on 91 mixed with 110 leaded ($10 a gallon). That's driving normal... getting on it from stops, a couple wot blasts..
granted it just has a mail order tune that I forced to run in open loop... but i doubt it'll get much better.
This is with a cam close to the LE2.

As the others said, it depends on how you drive. I have a 94 Impala SS and when I did the hotcam swap with a select set of heads. My mpg actually got better on the highway when I still had the 3.08's. I was getting 22mpg w/ the bolt ons, then it went up 28-30 w/ the h/c swap, running about 75mph. Then I installed 3.73's and I'm back down to 22. The city is good if you drive sensible. but if you like the blasting of lights and roasting the tires. Then mpg should not be a factor in your quest for power.

mileage + performance are a perfect match when you dont go radical on cam choice ....
ex: LT4 cam + .029 head gasket + headers + tune will give you better gas mileage even with an increase in HP ...
but there is a certain line that you dont cross
ex: steep gears like 4:10 + long duration cams over 230@ .050 will kill your gas mileage .....
it's all physics

it was about a 2-3 mpg difference when i went from stock cam to the xe230/236. the way i lost my gas mileage was through the 4.10's. stock was around 24 mpg on the highway, now my best has been 16.7.

That is interesting. When I went from 2.73's to 3.73's in my a4 my mileage did not drop. Most of my driving is in the city though.

to be honest with you i didnt see a drop really. i went from a 95 t/a with hooker catback and moroso cold air and stock 2.73s to another 95 with a 3000 stall, 3.73s, cold air, straight pipes, and a hot cam and couldnt tell a difference in mpg. i guess some of thats in the tune but a lot of it is in your foot.

2:73 with overdrive aint good at nothing.....gives barely 1.9 final drive .it kills performance .it's nonsense .
3:23/3:42 is the lowest gear id go with od. gotta to drive that engine in its torque band
