So basically heres what happend stupid mistake on my part but you learn from your mistakes. When i built my engine i used press in oil galley plugs. My 3 o'clock oil galley plug blew out (even tho i notched it) and went in between my waterpump gear and my cam gear, causing it to lock up which tore the teeth of my cam gear whipped around and tore the teeth of my crank gear, it broke the key on my crank gear and spun it about 45 degrees. ive dropped the pan and removed the debris, and put it back together along with a cloyes replacement set.
So far the cylinders that had the mangled push rods compression test good, it seems that maybe the pushrods took the abuse instead of the valves. Ill find out this weekend when its the rest of the way together, worst that could happen is that id have to drop the engine and pull the head..If thats the case im ordering some AI's, i just assume try then do somthing for no reason. But the main thing i learned is to always thread my oil galley plugs!

I hope that you get by without major valve to piston contact carnage.........I never do. It seems that the worst case scenario always occurs with my LT1 but thats what makes hotrodding fun!
Good luck.

I have dropped a valve before, its happend, hopefully like you said the push rods took the damage, but what worry about is any piston that took the hit, unless you Magnaflux it (they sell a home kit), then you dont know if it isnt cracked, and could lead to potential future failure.

Thanks, the only thing that sucks about this whole thing is i just turned 19, I built this last summer it was my first engine, and im having nothing but bad luck. It was easy to throw several hundred dollars at it last summer when i was working full time. Now im going to school year around and it just blows when somthing like this happens. But its part of the expierience.
its pretty bad when my first tranny has worked out way better then my first engine lol
