Default Time to get headers.. but which ones???

Ok I have a 96 t/a and its time to get me some long tube headers. I plan on keeping the egr/air but what came to cross my mind were the cat converters. Since it gots both of them, is it going to hurt to not have any cats on the car??? Also, two more things I was wondering about..what is the main difference with ceramic coated and non ceramic coated headers??? Are their performance gain different??

I like my Jet Hots but if I were to buy again I would try a set of Pacesetters. Plug access on cylinders 6 and 8 is not good, I have to go from underneat and hang the starter down to change them, and cylinders 2 and 4 can be done from the top but are a PITA till you are fairly used to doing them.

Now if I had some money I would get Kooks.

I do like my pacesetters a lot. The only spark plug I realy had a problem with was cyl 7 and thats because on my 93 I have the oil pressure sensor directly in the way.

I would go with Pacesetters. Definatly the best bang for your buck in L/T's. Also there is not really a gain in ceramic coated VS. not ceramic coated. Its more of a "looks" type of a deal. They look alot more sexy than non coated. www.ws6store.com or www.texas-speed.com are a good place to buy cheap Pacesetter L/T's. Hope this helps.

Sounds good...I was also thinking about pacesetters.. is there going to be a big problem by not having cats though?? I dont care about the SES, I could always delete the code....

You shouldn't have problems. I didn't have cats and my car ran beautifully.

Im running Pacesetters on my car, although if I could do it all over again, there would be Kooks. If you dont have to worry about emissions get rid of the AIR and EGR. Also going catless wont hurt a things, and will net you some HP. Going from two cats to one is a bad idea IMO. There is power to be gained w/ two cats vs. one.

I've had my Jet-Hot long tube (Hookers design) for two years now with no problem. As far as changing plugs, yes, the starter has to come off on that side, but not a big deal. It takes me 10-15 minutes to change all 8 plugs.
And I like the 3-bolt collector flange.

Ceramic coating acts as corrosion resistance, at least on non-stainless headers, and acts as a thermal barrier, which keeps underhood temps down and I believe also aids in increasing the velocity of the exhaust gases, which is a performance benefit. It's not just about appearance.

go pacesetter, like said above they are the best bang for the buck. I have them in ceramic coated and they are really nice.

I've been putting Kooks on my car over the holidays. They're nice. If money isn't an issue, I highly recommend them. They fit great. We didn't have to loosen motor mounts, remove any steering linkage or air conditioning components to get them in. Tightening the header bolts and plugs was the biggest pain in the rear. I got mine coated with Jet Hot's Extreme Sterling. They're beautiful.
