Anyone know where to find OBDI code reader?
I know you get what you pay for so I'm looking for an OBDI code reader that will work on my 1994 Trans Am. Not necessarily cheap but a good price as I can't shell out $300 for one. I can't seem to find any OBDI scanners?
I finally decided to get one because last week I paid my mechanic $182 to replace my TPS! My car wouldn't start and I couldn't figure it out, so after a couple weeks of me messing with it I took it to the shop. The SES light never came on either which is why I found it funny that he was able to pull codes? Anyway it turned out my TPS was reading over 4 volts or "flood mode" so it wouldn't spray fuel at startup. The sensor was $40, labor $20, and diagnostics was a whopping $120! Now you see why I want my own code reader?

Rather then buying a code reader, just connect terminals A and B in this picture:
The SES light will flash so many times, pause, then flash again like this:
* * * (pause) * * * * * that would be a code 35 and so forth.
Then get online and find out what that code means.

I just did a little searching and found this. http://www.autoshoppingcenter.com/te.../obd_3123.html
EDIT: I guess that's the same thing that Kragens has. Kragens has it for cheaper, though. http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...egoryCode=3389

I really wish I wouldn't have sold my laptop then. I could save a ton of money by getting a cable and just doing an email tune for MadZ28. Because, all I'd need is a laptop and that cable to do this right? http://www.madtuner.com/index.php?pa...mart&Itemid=26. That'd save me a ton of money as opposed to ordering a new PCM and having to do the core charge and worry about all that crap. Maybe I should just try and find some old laptop and get a cable then.

Would the cable/laptop way allow me to delete codes also? Ever since I got my car back from the mechanic the SES light is on. He said its a MAF code and thats probably because its descreened. It would just make me more comfortable to have that light off so I want to delete those codes.

Well my car runs fine, it just idles high...like 1500 rpm's high. It comes down to about 1000 after I drive for about 5 minutes. The tune from madz28 has it tuned for 700 rpm's though. He just said my car is throwing a MAF code but every car I know who's MAF is goin out their car runs like crap. When I unplug my MAF the car runs like crap so I assume its working.

Well it doesn't run bad at all. No stumbles or anything...ever. Just the SES light is on and I wanna find out why. Maybe has something to do with the high idle? Plus if I'm able to scan my car in the future myself then I don't have to go to the mechanic for it.
