Default LT1 swap into a elcamino

Ive got a 1980 elcamino and a 1993 trans am that has a salvaged title with a lt1 and a 6-speed and im wanting to swap the 6 speed and lt1 into the elky.Has any one on here ever done a lt1 swap on a g-body car or swapped a 6-speed into one?Ive had 3 lt1 fbodys and know a little more about them than lsx engines.Just want some advice or ideas on what im gonna need to change far as engine mounting, trans mounting and wiring.I have a two elkys actually one of which is a wrecked 3 speed manual car so i can use the clutch pedal assembly from it.I was also wanting to know of anyway to dissable the VATS from the lt1 computer. It seems that all the guys in the conversions and hybrid forum are lsx junkies and have no idea the lt1 was ever around. So im depeding on the lt1 guys here for some help.

thanks for the link 94pontiac...im gonna check it out....yeah i used to have a really nice 84 elky with a pretty stout small block crate,3 speed auto trans and 3:42 gears in it.It was stolen and never recovered about a year and a half ago.I think a lt1 & 6-speed combo will be a little more streetable.

Thanks for the complement...yeah i was pretty upset when it was stolen.I put four years of hard work into it,and i had a lot of memories with it since it was my first car.Im looking foward to building another one.Ive gotten a lot of positve response on it.Maybe i can get it running by this summer anyway.Im gonna need as much help as i can get with some of the technical stuff though.Im trying to figure out the easiest way to setup the fuel system for EFI.I would like to use the stock elky tank and maybe a inline high output pump.Do any of you think that would be a reliable way of doing it?Im assuming I could use the fuel pressure regulator on the lt1?

You can have the VATS programed out of the PCM. While you're at it, you'll need to program the PCM with your rear's gear ratio. pcmforless.com can do it or any other re-programmer mail order dude or a local tunner shop.

I didnt know that you had to have the pcm tuned for your gear ratios in a
OBD1 m6 car?I thought you had to have some kinda aftermarket VSS box to make the speedo work?I might wrong though....this is the kinda stuff im gonna need help with.

consider the size of tires when doing the tune as well.
