Default WTF! how do i tell if my LT4 hotcam is legit?

ok guys- i bought and lt4 hotcam off a member on here (93blacktransam) and i measured the lobe height and it is exactly the same if not smaller than my stock cam. from what i can tell by eye it does have more duration but the lift as i said is smaller if anything. it has serial numbers on the rear, so how do i look up if it's a real lt4 hotcam or not? im so F'ing pissed right now im almost thinking he's a scammer. #@%#$

Part number for Chevy HOT CAM is 24502586

Actual lobe lift on an LT4 GS cam is .330 at the lifter and .477 at the valve with 1.6 roller rockers.

Hot cam will see .525 at the valve with 1.6's and a little over .360 at the lifter.

What is the part number you have?

ok when i measured the lobe on the "lt4 hotcam" it was 1.5165 inches and on my stock cam the verniers read 1.5401

see.. thats whats making me doubt it shouldn't the hotcam be noticeably bigger not smaller wtf?

I think its safe to say that at this time the only thing "HOT" about that camshaft is the owner!

ok guys i just talked to jarrett, he seemed cool and feels that he was also screwed by the mechanic who sold it to him.. I'm pretty sure he didn't know and it was an honest mistake. I just now hope we can work everything out, this was very unfortunate and is going to be a @$#% huge hassle damn. but from what i read and what i can tell, measured and by logic this is surely NOT an lt4 hotcam but a "lt4" cam.

ok 1 more thing- i also bought lt4 hotcam springs from him, is there a way to tell if they're real ?

Jarrett said he bought them serperate adn they are deffinitely lt4 hotcam springs but i want to make double sure. thanks for helping me out guys all your info is appreciated.

I'm going to give jarrett the benefit of the doubt here, he seems like a good guy and promises he'll work things out and try to find a real hotcam for me. He seems very trustworthy and im pretty sure he'll make things right. I'm going to keep you guys posted on whats going on, he's supposed to call me tomorrow after talking to his mechanic to try and move this situation forward.

The FM camshafts are some of the nicer cams I have ever seen. They are heavy and look to be forged. They weigh twice what a CompCams unit does so you kind of got to know they are forged. I know people who can grind and weld a cam to HOT specs. I am taking in six of them next week. Ill let you know how they turn out.
