Default Is this right??

I have a 95 Z28 with 38k original miles, the car is an A4 with the stock 2:73s and has pacesetter lts, ory, dynomax bullet dumped, K&N CAI, TB bypass, TB airfoil and march UD pulleys. And I got beat by my two friends who have a 99 GT with CAI, bigger TB, and x-pipe with catback! And a 02 GT with CAI, x-pipe with catback, UD pulley, 3:90s and hand held tuner! Both are 5spd and both pull about 2-4 cars on me every time from a dig and role?? I dont know my car just doesnt feel like its running strong! I think i'm going to get a tune and gears next?? What do yall think??

I'm deffinately doing gears soon and a cam was in the back of my head, but what cam would be good for a cam and bolt on car only? I dont want to touch the heads at this point!

503 will work with mild upgrade valvetrain and the 306 for a good strong motor your willing to spin 6500+

oh and there is always the custom route, which would probably be best with a good tune

I think the gears are helping the stangs walk away
Most of my races with mustangs unless they have a supercharger or h/c i walk away pretty easily too but i have 3.23. maybe you should try gears and a stall before the cam

A nice little 125 shot of Nitrous should do the trick.

2:73 is a bit of a dog out of the hole IMHO. Most performance upgrade require a better gear.

Damn Mustangs! lol

yes. you could be sensing false knock with the stock lt1 knock module. Its cheap only like 30-40 bucks for some good insurance. also if you get a tune you can just desensitize the knock and youll pick up a few ponies with a tune also

I'd say with what you have and still with the gears, at the MINIMUM you should be neck and neck. Do they have an M6 or A4?

it would be a m5 lol

the gears are really whats hurting you, even if you just picked up a set of 3.42s cheap around here you should put them ponys to shame.

haha Right, M5, silly Ford.

One thing to note for you on gears, is that you'll need to do 1 of 2 things. Buy 2 Series gears, because of your 2.73 carrier being different, or buy a 3 Series carrier and gears. The latter would be easier to do since you could goto a junk yard, or even here, and find a pull. You'll probably want to get the caps and stuff if swap to a 3 Series just in case they're different.

Or, do what I did and swap in a 99+ M6 full rear and get .3" bigger brakes, slightly better posi, and 3.42s I got lucky though and got a new rear that was going to be used in a project car and he decided not to for $650. No calipers, but had rotors.

Also, I bet a tune, even with those gears, would let you beat them.

I believe I might have 3.23s for a 3 Series, from my rear swap. I don't have the carrier anymore because I sold it to a friend for his S-10 project. There's only about a 25% chance I can find the gears though.

You have to figure that a 5 speed Stang especially the one with 3.90's will pull out infront of an Auto especially one with 2.73's from a roll and dig too if the guys can drive but some 3.73's would really wake the car up so I would do that and then invest in a stall converter. You will mess them up with a nice stall and 3.73's if you can get traction. Dont get a cam unless you have the converter first. Also def get the LT4 KM, I have always ran them and its a nice thing to have since you got LT's.

Did all that and changed the water pump while i did all the other mods about two months ago!! I'm going to get both the LT4 KM and go to Futral Motorsports and let them tune the car!! Then i will do either 3:42s or 3:73s! But i'm not familiar with rear gears so would 3:73s be to much and also what all do i have to order if i just order the gears instead of getting a whole new rear end?
