Default Switch from power to manuall doors

I didn't know which section to put this in... But I need some help...

1996 Trans Am, M6, No TCS Switching from power to manual

I bought some doors with manual windows a few weeks ago. Removed my oem doors with power windows now I have all these wires just hanging there. I went under the dash to see if I can find somewhere to unplug them but are wired throughout the car. My question is can I just cut them??? any help would be appreciated..

Thanks in advance,
Joey

My doors where delaminating towards the front plus. I have been having a lot of trouble with those damn window motors... With this I will never ever have to worry about them again...

I would just pull the power window fuse and leave them lay in the bottom of the door. It shouldn't hurt anything if there is no power getting to them

In weighing the power stuff, did you also consider the weight of the wiring harness and the relays and stuff? That's all gotta be about 8 or so pounds.

I'm just sayin......

i switched from power to manual doors as well. i like the simplicity of knowing they wont break.

i took off my door panels because i swapped speakers so i just pulled out all the wiring in the door itself ( no more power locks) and for the under dash side, i just cut the wires and pulled the fuse, later on when i take the dash apart il just remove the wires all together.

And you had no problems after cutting the wires?

well I wieghed the doors a little while ago... The manual doors are a whole 4lbs lighter than the power doors... With the wiring I plan to remove it will be around 8 lbs lighter... Not much of a difference. But I like the idea of not getting caught with my window motor going out.... you know our cars are good for doing that...

wooooooooooooot so if you add the wiring to the electric doors, they are heavier? just cut it all out n run a 3 pos switch to the console or door panel, you get to keep power windows woot! n save weight! its a win win situation, untill the window motor burns out, then your screwed for a while, but wouldnt it make sense to direct wire it?

Just trace the wiring back to its source, and get rid of it. It takes time, but well worth the weight. I like how everyone claims they know that electric windows weigh more then manual, but most have never had the door panel off. Manual windows are less weight. The regulators are very similar, except no motor. Then account for the wiring and switches, and there is a substantial difference. Here is just one pile of wire remove from under the dash.

If that were the case, then the 1LE's would have used power windows vs. manual windows.
