Well if ACCEL is ****, then dont buy a stock AC delco one either. - the rotors are glued on and they explode all the time..- just a ticking bomb..

Well guys after doing some troubleshooting with Jeff (indirocz28) on the phone, I went out to the garage and pulled the cover off the bottum of the steering column and found my Neutral Safety switch to be dicked-up. I pulled it from the mount and as I turned the engine over the F%cking thing started. Imagine that!!!!!!! Well I hope this solves it for good, I'll have to wait till tomorrow to get a new one. Thanks Jeff, I would have never thought it would be that switch!

I think ACCEL is just as good as AC and better than MSD. I readed a thread to stay away from MSD so I bought Accel. I installed it and my car lives again. I'm so dam happy that the car started.

Either get the MSD or a new GM ac-delco.

sorry, no. The Accel is a cheaper version of the stock design just like most of the other non-GM optis. Do a search. Lots of problems there. They seem to work for a while but fail far more frequently than the stock delco ones.

The MSD is a better designed piece than the stock GM, some of the execution was off though, so the have had a few issues. People have had issues with all the optis. But the non-GM cheap ones like summit, accel, and auto parts store ones have been by far the most problematic.

Changed the Neutral Safety switch now I'm back to not running. It started then died again and isn't throwing any codes again. Pulling the Opti out today for sure and ordering another one. I thought I had this one solved Jeff but I guess not, maybe I cut her up and throw in my built up 355.

Well, hang on before you yank it back off, it did at least start, so give her a couple more tries.. Check your spark again, and check your connections again along the nss circuit..

can you post some pics of the way the NSs was dicked up? Also, when you found it dicked up, and it started, how long did it run?

My camera is broke now, but ths switch would stick and move in and out sideways instead of straight up and down. I took it apart and found the springs were broke and wasn't making good contact. When it started, it sputtered and then died. I put that new switch in and it would do it's job of keeping the car from starting without the clutch pushed in. I still haven't got spark again. I went and picked up a new opti from Autozone and plan on putting it in tomorrow.

Are there any switches on the gearbox that would have to do with the security system or starting system?

Now the car won't turn over unless the clutch is pressed in, where as before it use to start either way. Those links above have some good pics except for the first 2.

Well, that Clutch Start Switch is supposed to keep the car from starting unless the clutch pedal is pushed in..- those yellow and brown wires are wired right into the Theft deterent relay...

So I guess it is doing it's job right. I'm motivated to pull the Opti out tomorrow and see what I can get out of her.

Ok, well.. things still dont seem right... of course it is possible that that optical sensor could be bad.. Check the connections on that harness on the passenger side of the opti going from opti up the harness to wherever..

Yes, its under the passenger side dash, behind the glovebox.. It has that thick yellow wire, a thick purple wire, and that thick brown wire running into it... If you have any questions on it use a DVOM and put it on the beep for continuity, plug one lead into the yellow on that clutch switch, then when you find the questioned relay plug the other lead into that and when it beeps, you have made continuity and that is your relay.

Right-on, I hear what your saying. I'll take a look at it tomorrow anyways, it can't hurt to double check it. Thanks for the info Bradda!
