Default Yea its another "wat cam" thread

i cant decide what cam to buy. XFI 268, XFI 280, or one of the lingenfelter cams. it will be for a cam only car with all the supporting mods and 4.10 gears so id like to raise the RPMs a little. not so much to where i need to do bottom end work. this will be daily driven also. maybe a little nitrous later too. any suggestions?

The XFI 280 is a little big if you want to run it to maximum potential without risking anything. I dont know the exact rpm level where it gets unsafe but I have heard alot about 6300rpm-ish. You really need to figure out how high you are willing to shift because thats what will determine what cam will work best. I would go the custom cam route maybe talk to Bret Bauer or Advanced Induction and have them grind you a cam to your specs, cant really beat that.

Can I ask why you are considering the XFI stuff?

The LT4 springs are not capable of anyting more than a stock cam with 1.6 rockers. Most of the XFI stuff would coil bind them when combined with the recommended 1.6 rockers.
The XFI stuff was specifically tailored to take advantage of beehive capabilities, no way you will get away with a crappy little spring like the LT4 even the light duty double spring can't control them.

Why do you think you have heard the XFI stuff was good, we read the same forums and that is NOT the impression I get. Have to understand guys who modify cars and get a power gain think it was good, later when they learn to do things right they realize they could have had more gain for the same money with more results oriented parts selection. The XFI reputation is built on MARKETING.

Yeah the Lingenfelter stuff is nice but still you will need good springs.
