Yeah, it takes perfect tuning and everything possible to make the most efficient setup as possible to make that kind of # with a hotcam

You wouldn't want to use the LT4 springs with the 503 if thats what you have. You would definitely pick up a few ponies with the 503 over the hotcam but it depends on what you want out of it as to if it is worth changing or not. Your pushrods and lifters should be fine if they are new and to spec.

As said you would pick up a few ponies and the lt4 springs will not work assuming they are the springs you are currently using. For all that work Im not sure if its really worth it or not.

would it honestly be worth all the work to gain what 5-10ish hp over the hotcam? if it was me i would keep the hotcam. not worth all the trouble to me a few hp. unless the 503 ran a significantly better 1/4 would i change it

I personally wouldn't change it until I decided to go heads/cam.

Buy some Scorpion 1.7 rockers and rasie your lift on the hotcam from .525/.525 to .558/.558. And no gaskets needed, only an hour or so downtime, and about 10hp to gain. Just a suggestion. I picked up over a tenth and 2 mph going form 1.6s to 1.7s on a bolt on LT1. Should be even more with that cam. Good luck.

that will require a valve spring swap because the lt4's are only good up to a .540 lift.

The cam has a .525 lift but the springs can handle up to a .540
