2008 LTX Shootout Results
You might not be full of crap but tell me how can someone fully staged before you pre-stage cause you to have to hurry and take you out of your routine at the starting line?
#1 rule in drag racing is: Don't beat yourself
#2 rule in drag racing is: Don't let the car in the other lane mess with your mind.
It's been mentioned already in this thread that there is no time-out when one car fully stages and the other car does not light the pre-stage bulb. There is no hurry.
Relax. Take advantage of the situation now that your opponenet made the mistake to fully stage.
I've run a few heads-up events over the years and a few bracket racing point series and if someone gets all fired up and flustered at the tree expecting someone to do one thing and they did not, and then ranted about it publicly and flipped-off the winner, I'd be tempted to take away all their points or at least publicly let them know that it is not good sportsmanship.
This does not seem to be the popular opinion right now but look back at it and consider what would be more sportsman-like.

Ok, here I sit in traffic. This is great stuff.
Would "sorry" have cut it for you??? Well it wouldn't have for me...period!
Did he miss the driver's meeting? Well there were a lot of other drivers there. My hearing is good for **** and I even heard it.
He had more than enuff time to back out, imho. Deliberate imo, I mean the 2nd bulb went up instantly. Yeah I guess I should've lit the 1st bulb and burned him down, that would have been the equivalent of what he did to me.... No? Oh and of course I would have apologized, fwiw.give ur head a shake!
Since he can't type, answer this for me why did he get bent out of shape, and tell my crew that I didn't even qualify for the class??? Because he didn't see it, lol, well the the track officials did! I guess I did qualify....afterall!
I brought a small tuneup to get my tuneup good for the bottle, due to tweaks to the motor over the winter. In laymens terms I brought a very sharp knife to a gun fight. I wasn't hiding a thing, he may have been, dunno and frankly don't care. Power to him his was quicker(at least for that day)... Period!
The only solution would to have rerun the race in my eyes, but alas that is not how it works.
So please again ask your pal if the shoe was on the other foot, if he would have been ok with. Sorry!
The tree is everything for me
Look at the slip, the race was over at the 60 foot mark.
Sorry but waving to him and cursing at him was as polite as I could be given the situation. That imo is less sportsmanlike than his actions! I mean how did he expect me to react, he raced to win, as we all do, but his choice brought out an extremely pissed off racer!
On a different train of thought, thanks again to all of the sponsors, and event staff!!! I am thoroughly pumped for the event. Please let's try increase the car count. I would prefer not to run 3 classes, lol! Altough I think I proved the motor to be built quite well! Lol! And I can't wait to bump the hit to over 250hp.

btw..............for those asking...........the heavy metal (used for balancing) in my crank decided to work its way out while I was on the dyno last week. The engine is fine but the weight started to hit the inside of the block ever so slightly. We shut if off in time so it did not hurt anything. Only problem is to fix it you have to pull and dissasemble the engine, weld the metal, re-assemble and install. Just could not get that done in a week. Sucks bad because the car was running better than it ever has!

Tony, that should never happen. It should have been drilled and pressed in front to rear. If drilled from the edge of the counter weight, where centrifugal force tries to sling it out, that will happen if not welded. No need to weld it if the crank is drilled so the holes and the tungston is front-to-rear, or parralell to the mains. I would prefer my crank not be welded.
If the other car fails to "courtesy stage' (Not really a courtesy, but a rule at most tracks) all you do is sit there until he backs out and does it correctly.
If they don't do it soon, I shut mine off until they do. Auto start does not start until the 2nd pre stage light comes on. People can't screw with you unless you let them.

I had a blast and I hope this is the first of many LTX shootouts..Nice to meet you Taner, and I learned a lot, in a very short time that we talked...Canadians are freakin' nutz..lol. Your buddy was a pretty good time too, he might be receiving some buisness of mine next winter
. My car will be there next time, whether its this fall or next spring.
Did anybody ever see under the hood of that "QTR Z 28"? I heard he used to run a nasty Gen 1 motor.

And think the fastest pass was a 9.40? And I looked under his hood, not a whole lot going on, a fogger I think? Whatever he has, it works. I have a feeling is more then the eye sees.

hey ytry5.0, what you respond to half a dozen other posts, and now nothing? what work or something? well keep this in mind, my ignorance followed his ignorance to courtesy staging. just a little reminder, not like it matters!
Ed,
you are right, that is what I should have done. well i don't race enuff, and/or have had that happen to me. all but one time about 5 years ago. lesson learned for me.
either way, imo he showed his true colours.
Karl,
hmmm what is less sportsmanlike, well he got the win light, it was all over at 60'. you see it your way and i see it mine. lesson learned for me, and he says "sorry" ahhh....... ok, whatever. like i said just my .000002.
Jason,
I was just borrowing a set of tires to try out is all. I have always wanted those rims, but i opted to have to sets of pro stars, versus one set of bogarts. i have dot rubber on one set, and drags on the other set.
