Default Opti spark all wet!!

Being new to the LT1 game, What is the best way to presure wash your lt1 and not ruin your Opti? Or can they get wet? I've seen people post not to get moisture near them so whats the truth? My car is a 1995 M6 and it has a coolent smell but with out washing the 123,XXX miles of old grime and previous engine oil ect leaks I cant pin point it.

Well, you have a vented opti, so I'd think if you let the car run while doing it that'd help a bit. Also you could spray the opti down with WD-40 to help bead off the water and just not spray the opti directly.

I have a 93 (Non-vented Opti) and I've used a pressure washer many times with no problems. Just be careful in the areas you have to be careful.

just pressure wash the areas you said, just dont aim it down in the engine area, theres lots of sensors and wires and optis that dont like water. mine has hiccuped on me a few times from this. just spray down your grimey areas after you soak them in some engine cleaner or degreaser of your choice and then on the engine just use some elbow grease and use a cup or milk jug of water to rinse.

Dude...do not force water inside an LT1 engine bay, reguardless of people's "success" stories...remember, if you limit the chances of it failing, your better off! Water on a rag, and go to town...plus, you get a little alone time handling your car
