Default TB Air Foil or get a 52mm

Which one should I go for? Not to sure if a 52mm is worth it on a stock motor.

I only have a borla cat back, and LTs and a CAI will be on the way

i had the foil on my 48mm it seemed OK, didnt notice much SOTP feel. I just went to a 52mm and i have LT headers with a ram air hood. i was told it would be more effective to have the 52mm withthe ram air and LT headers..

You could always do both. I have a holley Airfoil for sale for $25 shipped if your interested (new is like $60). It will work on a 58mm too.

I thought the aftermarket TBs have built in air foils already

With your mods so far honestly I wouldn't even bother with either. I'd personally spend the money on something that would make more of a difference. The stock TB's are good to about 450hp or so.

Most TB do have a built in foil so if your planing on doing one down the road dont waste the time or cash on a foil

**** man i just did a quick search and found this.

"The September, 2002 edition of GM HIGH–TECH
PERFORMANCE magazine reported a 5.8 horsepower increase after installing this
Holley airfoil kit on a stock 1994 Camaro Z28 LT1, called “The Grape Of Wrath”. "

from exotic performance parts plus not sure if i can post the link but i just searched "throttle body airfoil" and a link within the first three said 93-97 f-body. for 50 bucks 5.8 rwhp is a damn good deal to me. when else do you get horse power for cheaper than $10/1HP.

^^^Could be a fluke though. Dynos don't read exactly the same every time.

yea thats a legit statement but i mean a magazine that is known for chevy performance dyno'd it so i'd say it holds a tad more validity (doesn't mean its 100% the truth just a greater chance)

I would agree with StealthFormula. For your mods right now, I'd spend the $ on other mods. Yes, like gears, and/or a stall(if an auto).

Yeah, that's also true. And when you can get them for around $30, I guess it'd be worth a shot.

Default Airfoil

I have dynoed cars including mine in the past with the T/B Airfoil and saw 0 gains to a max of 2hp, and that doesnt mean that is actually gained 2, You can make runs on a dyno and have X amount of % difference...Of course there was one guy said that he gained 30 RWHP with an airfoil !!!

Now with forced induction you can actually gain a pound or two of extra boost, at least this was a warning from procharger...

I was going to pick up a 52mm TB, since the stock TB is 48mm and the intake is 52mm. I decided to wait and save my money, eventually down the road when I get LE2 heads and probably the GM847 I will get the intake ported to 58mm and pick up a 58mm TB. Until then I dont think I need it not feeding bigger heads or cam yet.

Too bad you live on the other end of the state or we could be LT1 buddies...lol
