52mm or 58mm TB?
I'm looking to getting a throttle body while i'm doing all the upgrading.
1-Will i need a gasket kit for it? I saw that they sell them..I guess i just never thought about that.
2-Would 58mm be over kill on a h/c/i car?
3-Do you guys recommend any certain brands?

That should keep you busy for a bit.
And to save you asking, yes you need a gasket, and just get a standard one and cut it bigger.

Then again I'm not a physicist or mathematician. So I can't calculate how something like that can rob power.

Not quite the question we're dealing with Since they both cost the same price, if you're going from stock (48mm), which is better. That's essentially the question being asked (almost every damn time :\)

There is also 54mm now as well, but those I think are only available on eBay (anyone have a sponsor maybe that does it?). They're nice since the stock size of the intake is 54mm

AS&M used to make a trick billet 54mm TB, but not sure if they still do or if it was discontinued.

What upgrading are you doing? The stock throttle body is not a restriction unless you are making a bunch of HP. Lot's of low ten second NlA LT1's out there running the stock TB. I have yet to see anyone post a true back to back test that showed any gains on average combinations.
(Just trying to save you a few bucks)

Basically there's better things to spend $300 on right now, like headers. Unless you get a bored stocker off eBay for around $140.

One thing everyone is forgetting is airspeed. The air will travel slower through a 58mm throttle body than a smaller one. Heck a monoblade is better yet.
The slower the air is traveling the better it is able to make the turns into the ports. The faster it is going it wants to head to the back of the plenum. So the front ports will be some what starved for air while the back ports will have more air.
So buy the biggest one you can afford. I'm running the AS&M monoblade my self. I started out with the stock 48mm, had it bored to 52mm, than a 58mm and finally the 1300cfm monoblade. I have had zero driveability problems with any of them.
