Default Need header / exhaust advise

I have the LT1 out of my 97 SS and want to upgrade the exhaust while it is out. It has the SLP dual dual catback, and I want to keep the cats on. I was considering BBK shorties, but is there a economical (< $1000) way to run long tubes and cats? Thanks for any advise.

You could potentially keep the cost of LTs/Catted Y/Catback under the cost of 1k if you play your cards right (Just buy the LTs, 2 cats, and a catback and have it welded up). Doing the install yourself on the LTs will be a huge part of it. Shorties arent really worth the price, you would be better off trying to make a setup with LTs or Mids or just not doing it at all.

Default headers and two cats

Thanks for the quick response. Are there any kits out there that will install headers and 2 cats and I can tie into my existing catback? I don't know where 2 cat can go with anything other than shorties.

Why is it that you want to keep the cats on there?

Just wondering.

VA has annual inspections...they don't sniff where I live but they should do a visual inspection. Just wanted to avoid the hassles.

Has anyone installed the Pacesetter mid-tubes on a 96-97 Camaro? And what kind of gain will mid-tubes give?

If it's visual only, hollow out the cats and run a pipe through it. Or cut the cat in half (length wise) and weld it over a pipe so you can use which ever size ID you want.

If they're REALLY **** about visuals, then they're going to cite you for them being in the wrong place.

how about Lpp LTs and a Kooks catted y-pipe? If you do the install yourself should be in the right price range. You might have to modify the y-pipe though.? Just a thought.

Oh and I had JBA shorties on my ol 97. Worked great with stock cats and y-pipe you just need to weld on an extension to the stock y.
