Centerforce Dual Friction or LS7?

I am about to replace my first clutch, because my Camaro has 76k miles on it and has the same LS6 clutch on it since it was a brand new car. It's starting to lose grip in higher rpm's, making it hard to shift into 2nd and 3rd gears. It's just a bolt-on car right now, and I only plan on swapping the cam for a 224/224...so maybe around 400-430rwhp by the time I'm done with it. I would like to keep it under $750, so the LS7 kit would be pushing it. The Centerforce is roughly $400. The SPEC clutches are out of the question, because a friend bought one 4000 miles ago and it chatters like a kid in church. What do you guys think? Any opinions from experience?

Here's a post I just made on the subject on corvetteforum.com:
Well, I have only heard good things about the 12" Centerforce Dual Friction clutch which is rated up to 750tq (Per Will, a Centerforce rep on LS1tech.com) and is supposed to drive like a stock clutch with no chatter or anything like that. And I can get a new one for only $329 (@Jegs pricematched from RPM) and from the research I have done on LS1tch I can just re-use my stock flywheel as long as its resurfaced adn balanced to the CF clutch which i was having done anyway under warranty..... And the best part...I won't lose 10rwhp like I will with the LS7 clutch. When you pay so much money to gain 30rwp or so from a cam...it just really sucks to see 10rwhp taken away from that on the beefier clutch you need. In the end you'll have spent all this money on 20rwhp.
fyi: Fred Beans has a special on the corvette forum and the LS7 clutch+ flywheel is only $463, not $700.

Im running a centerforce right now and its worked well so far.
If my clutch goes out sooner than later Ill probably try monster clutches, if it lasts for a while Ill replace it with a TH400.

I can tell you I have spent a lot of time looking up clutches in the past few days...and CF DF clutches are pretty much unanimously praised...while most other clutches have many complaints...especially SPEC.

I'm not too worried about the 10hp. Good clutch, decent price:

mass, some people spend a good amount of money for 10rwhp. if you can have just as good or better of a clutch for the same or less money, than why choose to lose that power? Also, Fred Beans (GM Dealer) on the corvette forum has better prices than the link you posted.

Well thanks everyone for the replies. Based on what I'm hearing, and learning that the LS7 clutch takes power away, I am going to get the Dual Friction. I can probably use my old flywheel and have it resurfaced.

I wouldn't recommend resurfacing the stock flywheel. I dont think they have enough material to take any off and still have good engagement. A new centerforce flywheel froms jegs is about $260.

There are TONS of people who have had their stock flywheels resurfaced with no problems whatsoever. And I can't imagine that all the respectable shops that have done it would have done so if it was a problem.
I can't imagine resurfacing takes off all that much material, its basically like a light sanding/polishing,no? Its not like the stock flywheel is wafer thing or something.

Check out the Southbend clutches. Just received what was supposed to be a stage 2 with a flywheel for $515 shipped to my door. It is good for 530 tq. By accident they sent me a stage 3 rated at 680 tq. I drove my buddies car with a southbend stage 2, feels like stock. Gripped enough to twist his driveshaft. He is putting down around 380 at the wheels I believe.

We offer a Level 2 clutch that is similar to the DF from Centerforce. Ours has a better warranty and ours also has a higher clamp load on the pressure plate, plus you don't have to worry about the weights on the diaphragm spring.
