Default F-body & CTS T56 differences

What are the main differences in the F-body & CTS T56 transmissions? Does the CTS use a torque arm also? Is the torque arm required if I am putting this into another type of vehicle?

I don't have a file picture of the CTS-V units we've built but I am pretty sure no other T56 based unit is like it .

So I assume the Cad unit will probably not be a good candidate for my conversion?
Thank you for the info...I was getting rdy to buy one this weekend!

CTS-V dimensions

I've converted one over to a F-body unit, but it's not cheap nor for the faint of heart. (No yoke, 3-bolt flange, remote shifter, etc.)

Thank you for the dimensional pics, that is kinda what I was hoping to find for starters.
Why did you use the Cad tranny? When compared to the F-body: Same clutch & pressure plate? Are the pedal/hydraulic set-ups the same? I am assuming they bolt up to the LS-series without any changes...I have no driveline parts as of yet, so I am starting with a clean slate. I am just trying to see what all of my options are before I fork out the money to buy one. (I was wondering what the 3-bolt flange was for when I saw a pic of one- thought it was a plug they were using)

The CTS-V trans was picked up for cheap, which is why I did the conversion. If you can't get one for less than $400, it might not be worth it.

The CTS-V was behind the LS6, so the clutch setup has to be aware of that,
(extended pilot, slave, etc.) but many LS1/LS6 adaptations have been documented.

Basically you'll need:
- GTO mainshaft
- fbody tail housing
- fbody shift rail
- misc fbody detent/offset/VSS reluctor/detent cover/detent guide/sensors/shifter/etc.
