You need to machine the input shaft. (Cost me $65 locally)
You need to use a viper slave, with a Fbody quick-connect (or convert the front plate)
You need to enlarge your shifter hole in the floor/tunnel, to move it forward ~2 inches.
You need to use a viper/T5/cobra square mount shifter
unless you want to convert to an LS1 tailhousing, then it has to be bored, fit with a larger bushing, cut the mainshaft shorter, and replace the shift linkage rod.

The viper VSS is 11 tooth (Fbody = 17t), so you'll have to reprogram the ECM.

I did this conversion, and 85MikeTPI was a big part of it, and hit the nail on teh head. If you do a search on this site, you will find all kinds of links that will take you here and there in giving you pics and very detailed info.

You do mean Viper T56 from a Dodge Viper or a D&D Performance GM Viper T56?

The Viper has a 3-wire powered speed pick up ( hal effect) where the Fcar uses a sinewave signal. I think there is more than a reprogram needed to make that work.

If you do a tailhousing conversion, you'll be using a GM pickup. It's just generalized FYI to the poster anyway, since some late-model viper/ram T56s didn't even have a VSS/reluctor on the trans.

His original post says the donor trans. is out of a 2005 6 speed Viper.
