Default Tires move with clutch pushed down...

Just finished installing a mcleod clutch with a newer master and slave. I performed the drill mod on the master and bench bled the system. We also bled the system in the car once everything was installed. The only problem is when I push down the clutch pedal (which feels funny) and put the tranny in gear (T56) the tires spin with the clutch pushed down. Any ideas? Do I need to bleed the system more?

Looks like there is still air in the system and your throwout bearing is not pressing on the pressure plate enough to release the clutch. Only way to fix it is to just keep bleeding the system. I took mine over 45 minutes until I established a firm pedal. Push the pedal all the way to the floor and pull up on it slowly. Just keep doing this and eventually you should start getting a firm pedal. Look up some different bleeding techniques on here. good luck

Even then bleeding it may not be enough. Thats when you need to either shim the slave (PITA) or just buy an adjustable master cylinder. Which is what im doing. And now would be the time to buy one because tick is running a group purchase on them.

You'll need an adjustable master if bleeding doesn't help.

Mine did the same thing, it wouldn't fully disengage. I knew it was just because I had air in the syatem because I had a fairly soft pedal. If your pedal is firm and its still not disegaging then you might consider what the two guys above said.

I will give the bleeding more time this weekend. I really hope that it works because I really don't want to spend the 400 dollars for another master. What is tick's website?

Thumbs up

Check out Ticks link https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ferrerid=13535. They have a special this month on their masters. Good deal. I wish I would have waited a few months before I bought their master and bleeder seperately.

If on a flat surface, put clutch in, rev to 5.5k and if it moves, you need to rebleed, but in my case, my Ram adj wasnt enough, I had to get the Tick Master Cyl, works great now!

The tires are still turning with the clutch pedal pushed in. Put the car on the ground and it trys to move. It is also quite difficult to get into gear. Bled the master for about 20 minutes. Not sure what to do at this point.

Invest in a Motive Powerbleeder or Mityvac to assist you in getting the air out? I bought a Powerbleeder and it is SO much easier to bleed brakes or the clutch and you will flush out air and old fluid more effectively.

I rigged a way to bleed the master without the slave to flush out the fluid, then put it all back together and bled it from the slave a bit more. Has worked fine ever since. I used the nipple off the old slave and attached the mitivac to it to pull the fluid through until it didnt have any air and then disconnected it.
