Default Who sells Faceplatted gear sets ?

Ive only seen Tick and Liberty sell flaceplatted gear sets. Is there anyone else who sells the gear sets ? If a sponsor see's this what are the prices ? I need to build a trans thats capable of holding together under at least 800 rwhp.

Liberty is the only one I know of who builds the gearsets for faceplated T-56's. My TICK faceplated trans has Liberty gears in it...

Maybe Rockland Standard Gear makes their own as well?

I would contact Tick, they built mine quick, can't wait to try it out.

So you cant get hardened alloy gears ? I would hope so. I trust the stock gears to a point but at 7000 rpm launches on a 250 it will hit hard haha.

Stock gears are hardend alloy ...... if they were not , they wouldn't last anytime at all .

You would be amazed at what the stock gears will handle. I had a Faceplated T-56 in my nitrous 408. I blew up a McLeod Street Twin with that tranny!

The TR6060 is not a racing transmission, and not comparable to a faceplated transmission in racing applications.

You might want to check with Jerico as well for aftermarket gear sets. I was reading up on them, and I do know they make them in house for THEIR trannies, not sure if they do for other trannies. Worth a shot though. GL

I am hearing mixed reviews on the TR6060 myself . Of all the failures I've seen , its been the 2nd gear that bust on them in the GT500's . Is this due to the weight of the car or is it a weak design ? Only time will tell ........

Hmm, that is interesting. I saw an article on teh tranny, and looked like a nice unit. Gears especially. You would THINK from the looks anyways, that it SHOULD be a better tranny, slightly.

Man, that's not encouraging considering most of the cars getting them are fat pigs (Camaro SS, GXP, SRT cars, etc.).

I pulled that article on teh Magnum:

Gears are wider than standard '56.
Dog ring welded directly to the gear face.
Input shaft MUCH larger than stock '56, as well as teh input shaft bearing, which is almost twice as large.
ALL bearings inside teh box have been upgraded.
Switched to a blend of 4615 steel, a high nickel and molybdenum alloy, that is stronger than stock, but easier to machine than the ultrahard 9310 steel, which is used in boxes like the Jerico.
All gears and shafts inside the box are made of teh 4615.
Linkages were altered for shorter throws
Triple cone synchros were used on 1st and 2nd
3rd and higher and reverse are still double cone, but larger in diameter.
Rated conservatively @ 600 lb ft. More in a lighter car

I know for a fact the TR6060 is being redesigned because of syncro issues . They are suppose to do away with the powdered brass rings and go with something like the Vette syncro design . As far as size , they are in fact larger gears but that does not always mean they are stronger .

Take a look at Taner's sig on here to see how he feels about aftermarket gears from G-force compared to his faceplated gears from Liberty. FWIW, we have nothing to do with his tranny, but he has deffinately put liberty and g-force gears to the test. Also, I believe that Rocklands gears are made for them by g-force...

I am pretty sure the G force and Rockland gear kits are from the same supplier .
