Default High hp T56 guys

I am wondering who all would be interested in a 9310 alloy steel 5th and 6th gear near stock ratio (.74/.50). I am not talking about the close ratio 5th and 6th gears (approx .86/.73) that a few companies make. I have broke my 5th gear twice now and would love to have a 9310 5th and 6th gear. There are a few companies that could make it but it wouldn't be cost effective unless there was a fair amount of people interested in them. I already have G-force 1-4 gear set.

Wow man, you keep breaking things on that car. Good luck on the transmission, you just need to stop doing 5th gear pulls.

Would the shorter 5th and 6th maybe help ?

My box is just a standard T56 gearset, cryo'd with all the goodies that Sixspeedsinc put into them and viper mainshaft.

So far Ive had no issues. Although the stock gearbox never gave me any problems either

5th and 6th shouldnt be the weak link in that gear box. Have you broken the input gear yet?

From what I have seen with my customers is the input shaft breaks, the primary cluster breaks the teeth off the input shaft, or the secondary cluster splines break when shifting to 5th.

I have never seen the actual 5th or 6th break.

got any pics?

I am not willing to give up my .50 sixth gear. Like I said in my first post, yes there are a few companies making 9310 5th and 6th gears but you basically give up your .50 sixth gear because the ratios go to around .86/.73.

I have a G-force T56 which is 1-4 gears, counter shaft, and 9310 main shaft with stock 5th, 6th, and reverse. Yes I have broke the head set gear (gear attached to the input shaft) and the front counter shaft gear but that gear breaks from lack of lubrication on the head set gear and counter shaft gear from a hard pull and the fluid in the rear of the trans, but I have fixed that problem. I will attach a pic of the pump I rigged up to always spray fluid on the head set gear and so far that gear still looks brand new. After going back and looking at my pics, I have broke 6th once and now 5th. I will attach a pic of breaking 6th gear and breaking 5th basically looked the same way.

i bet not. looking what a stock t56 is rated from tremic it is like 450. and guys take them to 1000 before they break.

and the stock tr6060 is rated at 750. and if it is like its little bro. then iw ill probly hold 1650. (using a ration set up)

0450 = 0750
1000 = 1650

I don't have a stock T56. I bet a TR6060 doesn't have 9310 alloy steel 1-4 gear set and mail shaft in them.

It is a electric/gear driven pump that pumps fluid from the drain port to the front of the case so fluid is always spraying on the head set gear.

can you post a pic of the hole you make for the spray point at the front of the tranny? Looking for the location and direction.....

Look at the pic I posted above. I basically just drilled a hole in the side of the case and ran a tube inside and positioned it so that is sprays on the head set gear.

You will keep breaking the head set. Its an inherent flaw in that box. Ive got 2 Gforce boxes here with broken/burned up gears, and another stocker with teeth sheared off.

The Local guys have gone to stock T56s, and doing preventative maintenance, and replacing them every 25 passes or so, and 2-3k miles. These cars make well over 1200 rwhp, and trap 160+, one in the 170s.

NOW, the TR6060 has a WIDER headset, which aids in solving this issue. They are so new, I have yet to see one fail, but it looks promising.

The other reason the headset fails is because its the driven gear for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. In all of those gears, its the one taking the load. 4th is locked, obviously.

I dont think you will find much interest in this gear, as its not solving the issue at hand that MOST are suffering.

Louis, I know you are very knowledgeable but I have ran my T56 with the pump spraying on the head set gear for a year now and the gear still looks brand new. I looked at one of the head set gears that I broke under a microscope and you could tell there was spawing (which is lack of lubrication) on that gear which is what eventually fails that gear. Yes the head set gear is the gear that takes the most beating since power is going through it in every gear except 4th gear.

I realize that it will probably be hard to some up with enough people to make it cost effective for a company to make stock ratio 9310 5th and 6th gears, but you never know unless you look into it. My 5th gear has taken alot of beating so I am not too worried about it. I will spend the 300 bucks for a 5th gear and 5th/6th counter shaft gear and go on. When I broke my 6th gear, I knew I should of never of tried to pull 6th gear at a high speed so 6th is no worries for me anymore since I don't try anymore high speed pulls in 6th.
