Default New to LS1tech help please!

Hey guys I am new to this whole forum thing. I have a 1st gen small block (283) out of a 1963 Chevrolet. I also have a T56 out of a LT1 camaro or firebird and was wondering if they will work together. I am building a 1932 Chevy coupe and so want to stick with the 1st gen motor. Thanks!

Yes, assuming you use the LT1 bellhousing it's a direct fit.

Your options for a clutch are all aftermarket, however, because your old SBC is a 2-piece rear main seal whereas the LT1 is a 1-piece seal...different crank bolt patterns for the flywheel.

So what do I do about which flywheel to get? And do I get clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, etc. for the LT1 and use a 283 flywheel? Thanks

Our 2-piece RMS LT1 applicable flywheel is part number SC66S (for steel) or SC66A (for aluminum). You would need our clutch kit part numbers SC421-SC425 dependent on torque output. I will be happy to make a recommendation if you let me know what kind of torque you are aiming to make. Let me know. Thanks,

I am shooting for around 300 hp and prob around the same (285-325) torque out of the 283. The car should only weigh around 1800-2000 lbs and im planning on running a 9 inch ford with 456 gears. The car will be street driven and probably run at the track occasionally with slicks. Thanks

That torque level would allow you to run a stage 1 without issue. Of course if you wanted to step up to something a little beefier then a stage 2 or even a stage 2+ would be fine. With the low weight of the car any of these should be fine for your planned usage. If I may ask, what is this motor and trans combo being transplanted into? It sounds like a cool project!

It's a 1932 Chevrolet 5 window coupe. I chopped the top 3", channeled 4", am building a frame out of 2x3 tubing z'ed 14" in the rear and 6" in the front. Straigh front axle out of a mid 30s - late 40s ford, 283 bored .060 over with a tri power, t56, ford 9 inch with a 4 link and coilovers, 17 inch steel wheels.

Could you message me the part numbers and prices on both flywheels and stage 1 and 2 clutch kits please?
