Default difference in gto t-56 and camaro t-56

Ok I'm putting a t-56 m6 in my 01 SS camaro and the t-56 is out of an 04 Gto. My question is this. Whats the difference and what all needs to be changed to make it work? I changed the slave cylinder and shifter assembly. The slave I picked up new from Autozone but the lines from slave to car are not matching. Any advice or did I get a mistaken slave Any help is appreciated thanx

Fbody bellhousing to work with Fbody starter, or GTO starter to work with GTO bellhousing.

Fbody Shifter offset lug

Slaves should be the same.

Right. The offset block shifter piece will fix that like Mike said.

Here is one w/ an aftermarket bronze bushing. (worn bushings can be replaced with one the dealer carries them for 80's T5 applications)

I too, need an F-body offset lever at the moment...

As to your question regarding the difference between the two: the Fbody has the 2.66 gearing and the GTO has the 2.97 gearing. Basically, the gearing in your GTO transmission is significantly shorter. 1-3 are shorter, 4 is still 1:1, 5 and 6 are shorter. The GTO trans also has triple cone blocker rings, which are supposedly "better" than the Fbody rings, although I've had issues with mine while my brother continues to beat the hell out of his stock Fbody trans without issue.
