Default Swapping a T-56 trans into an Escalade...has it been done?

Well I am at the point when I kind of want a larger vehicle to carry people around in. I looked at CTS-V's a little, BMW's, STI, Evos, etc. I liked all those cars alot, but I have always had a soft spot for 02-06 Escalades. What I just thought of possibly doing is, swapping a T-56 into an Escalade. Has it been done before? Is it any real difference then swapping a T-56 into an A4 Camaro/T/A?

Also if I were to do this, I would also either turbo the Escalade or build the motor with heads/cam/intake, etc. I know the motors are good, I just do NOT want an auto.

You'd probably need one hell of a clutch.

I know that, I would not be using the stock clutch.

Me and a friend are about the put a T56 into a 2002 GMC 1500 SCSB..Escalade would be similar. You would have to extend the Shifter and the Center Console would have to be definately redone.

I was also thinking about how the shifter would work. I been inside Escalades but never really had the chance to really scope out how much work it would be. I think it would be a pretty sweet build if you ask me.

It can be done but will you really like it after its done? I personally would not want a 6 speed in a luxury SUV but to each their own....

I personally would probably love it, I can't say the same for others, but thats why it would be MY project. I have ALWAYS wanted one of those Escalades, but never would buy one because I still want something stick and fast (Escalade can be made fast). So why not consider this?

They don't handle. I have an 06 Escalade and it is like a boat on water. It doesn't stop so quick either. I also have a Trail Blazer SS and that would be better suited for what you want to do. It is fast, it handles and stops on a dime.

The biggest thing it the length of the shifter, using a T56 in a truck application means having a big *** shifter and it will not shift like it does in a Camaro or similiar setup. Dodge put a T56 into the SRT10 truck and I've seen a few people install T56's into Lightnings so I am 100% sure it can be done as long as the truck is not 4wd or AWD.

It's been done with trucks, which are pretty much the same as the Escalades. Your only problem will be if you have an AWD Escalade and want to keep it AWD. There are a few people who have mated a T-56 to a transfercase but it looks complicated. I'm hoping I can find someone to mate a T-56 to a t-case for me for a project I'm working on.

Quik, over on GMFS and PT.net, has a 700HP turbo 4.8 with a T-56 in his 02 RCSB. I'd talk to him. Here's a THREAD.

If I remember right he used to have a 408 but he's rolling a 4.8 now.
