Default Help, I need a whole new transmission!

What started off as a bad slave cylinder has now turned into a huge problem and I need a new transmission aparently. The guy told me it would be more cost effective to buy a new transmission than to fix this one. He said he could do a new trans for $2400 with an 18m/18k warranty or $3400 with a 36m/100k warranty. The used one he priced was more than the new. Do you guys have any advice or any idea where I could get a T56 for a better price?

Tick has some good deals too. I was in a serious time crunch when I had mine rebuilt locally for $1280. A little more time and not much more $ and I could have atleast gotten some upgraded internals... If you've got the time to search and wait on the mail then you'll be able to get a better deal than what you've been quoted. Remember, everything you get from a sponsor will have better than stock parts... as in I'm not even sure if a sponsor has a strait up OEM 6 speed. They're all gonna have upgraded forks, etc. Think of it as a great opportunity to get a sweet tranny.

Run from your current "Mechanic" - he sees you as nothing more than a walking ATM.

Call the guys from Tick Performance, they do great work and charge a fair price.

Yeah plus they do them all the time and are familiar with them. I lucked out and found a mechanic in my small town that had rebuilt a few, but the inside of his shop was full of multiple supercharged big blocks, rail cars, slicks, etc. Talk to the pros. You'll feel better about it too knowing its coming from someone who knows them in and out.
