clutch noises, is it the TO bearing?
hey guys, i made a thread a while ago about having clutch noises, and after playing around with it, i have new info..
When i press the pedal down, everything is fine for about 3 seconds, then i start hearing a rubbing/rattling noise coming from the clutch area. I have no problems and no grinding when trying to go into reverse, or 1st gear, it goes in very smooth
I also hear the noise when i am driving and press the clutch in to downshift, or when i upshift at a low rpm
I blead the hydraulics using a mityvac in the slave resivour, and it seemed to make the problem worse, but my pedal felt really nice and firm, unlike it did before.
After i drove the car for about an hour, and pulled in my driveway, i noticed that when i pressed the clutch in it didnt make the noise nearly as bad, but still made it
do you guys think that the TO bearing/slave is bad? Its the only thing i can think of, other than the pilot bushing being worn (the pilot bushing, clutch, and TO bearing/slave were all replaced a year and a half ago, and have approx 15,000 miles on them) If it matters, my transmission has a small leak somewhere, when i checked the fluid i was a quart low, and i saw fluid on the side of the transmission where the speedo sensor was
any other suggestions? Im thinking of dropping my transmission tomorrow, but i would like some suggestions first in case it may be my master cylinder, or something else.
thanks for any help

For me I have a slight vibration in both the clutch pedal when engaged and when I am idling while on the brake. Also when idling I can hear a noise coming from the shifter itself. It's like a very quiet grinding noise, but goes away when I put it in gear.

Would this also be the reason when the clutch is engaged and I'm in a gear, I get a rubbing noise and vibration when I am between 1350-1600rpm?
Is a throwout bearing difficult to change? I haven't worked on a transmission before, so should I take it to a shop? If so how much would that cost? And how much would a new slave cylinder cost to put in? Estimates anyone?

my pilot bearing blew out and everytime i engaged the clutch well almost everytime i would get a slight vibration in the pedal
it was throwing the inputshaft off line and fucked it up
i say check it real soon cuz my input shaft was like 450 and thats employee pricing

How much would it cost do you guys think to get a throwout bearing and pilot bearing replaced? And is it possible to do it yourself?

pilot bearing is like 12 bucks or smthing throwout bearing comes with the slave and i think f body ones are round 90 bucks
and you could do it yourself if youve ever dropped a tranny before
ive only dropped 5.0 fox body trannys before and i would feel comfort doing that on an fbody
thats just me tho
