Has anyone had this happen? I will try to post a picture in the morning, but my master cylinder went out recently and while I was removing it to install my tick adjustable master I see that it has cracked the firewall on both sides, several inches long. I'm afraid it wont support the pressure from the pedal the way it is. I'm not really sure if I can patch it either. Anyone have a suggestion?

Get a piece of 1/8 Steel and see if you can make some kind of re-enforcing plate.

Thats what I'm trying to do, the crack is huge though, I measured it at 8" across.

I'm really sorry to hear that man. But to me it sounds like you're **** out of luck and out of options. Get a plate, if you don't want to weld it *which I wouldn't* get two plates drill some holes and bolt them together on either side of the firewall.

You could probably get away with doing a cheap fix of 14ga or 12ga sheet metal over the hole and cut the same hole for the slave and bolt holes. Maybe rivet it in place with some silicone between that and the stock firewall piece. Maybe sandwich two pieces between the firewall.. Just an idea.. 14/12ga sheet metal is pretty thick.

Welding that will be tricky and risk burning valuable wires/carpet.

Well I'm trying to find my camera cord to get a picture of it on the computer. its pretty drastic, no idea how it happened since I just got back from an 8 month deployment and it was busted that way.

stop-drill the crack before you sandwich it that way it doesn't keep spreading.

Well, I stop drilled the crack on the one side I could reach. The tick master cylinder is actually such a tight fit that it rests against the strut tower so it should be ok with the patch I made. I went ahead and did the sandwich deal and just bolted it together with some steel panels I had around. I'm still not sure how it happened.
