No how I did was get one of those little suction tube things that screw onto the tops of bottles. The fill hole for the tranny is basically horizontal. You have to pump the fluid in so those little pump things are life savers. If you search there are a few threads on ways to do it.

Get a couple feet of clear hose and a funnel that fits into the end then stick the other end in the trans to fill it. Or fill it through the shifter if you have that out. Also are you talking about the trans on jack stands or the car? Either one is fine. Just make sure you have the drive shaft in so it doesn't run out the tail shaft.

one of my guys at work has a 99 trans am with 6 speed t56 tranny not sure what fluid to use he does not have a book for the car. so you says the Manuel recommends atf dextron fluid and how many quarts.

GM has a particular part # for their "manual" ATF fluid. Can't say that it's any different from any other red ATF. Tremec recommends the Dex III or Mobil 1 synthetic ATF as those are the only 2 they did extensive testing on. You're safe with the Dex III.
