Default Flywheel help!

I bought a 1999 formula that was converted from auto to manual. the clutch slips like a mother so needless to say i am in the process of putting a new clutch in. Car has aftermarket flywheel with ram #1550 engraved on it. I was planning on buying a new ls2 flywheel and ls7 clutch kit. when i look up the ram part no. online it says ls1/ls2 flywheel. Will this flywheel work with my new ls7 clutch kit? It would be nice to get off a little cheaper and just resurface my flywheel!

Does it have a recessed surface? If it does, then yes it will work. If it's just flat like a normal flywheel, then no. You still need to buy a y body ls2/3/7 flywheel.

I am not sure what you mean by recessed. The part in the center where it bolts on is recessed but the clutch disk surface is solid. Here is the link. http://www.lmperformance.com/16174/4.html

No that will not work with the LS7 disk and pressure plate. The friction surface is all flat. The LS7 friction surface will be recessed compared to where the pressure plate mounts. I'm on my phone so I don't know if this will work or not. Here is a link to an LS7 clutch I'm selling. You can see the differance.

You may be set on going stock LS7 but if you are interested, you can use a regular LS1 clutch with the flat flywheel you have. Or better yet, buy an aftermarket clutch that will provide better capacity and performance. We offer 7 different single-disc options that would work for you.

There was a toasted spec 6 puck clutch on the car with less than 25k miles. Not really looking to buy another spec and have premature failure...

Premature is relative without knowing what kind of use the unit experienced. Did you own the car for the duration of that time? If so, and you have pics of the parts you are welcome to send them over to me for assessment. Thanks,

I am sorry, you are right. My only concern is that the car is next to stock and the clutch doesnt appear to have alot of time on it based upon the finish of the paint on the pressure plate and the surface of my flywheel. I do know that the car was driven HARD and i cant make any fair assumption on the durability of your products based on the facts that i have. I have heard numerous good things about the ls7 clutch and that is the main reason i am choosing that over an aftermarket alternative.
