Default Trans making whining noise, what could it be?

I have a level 3 build t56 with about 5k miles on it that is making a whining noise. It only makes the noise when the clutch is not engaged and increases in volume as I accelerate. I was told that it is some kind of bearing that needs to be replaced. My question is exactly what bearing is it and how big of a job would it be to replace it. I am planning on putting in a monster level 3 soon and wanted to fix the bearing while I the trans out. What do you guys think?

Check you fluid level might be low. My trans is a stage 3 and i picked my car up from the shop and drove down the parking lot it whined and it never whined before since i had it. Checked fluid level was really low top off fluid whine noise went away. Hope that helps.

Yes, it does make the noise in 4th but not quite as loud. Its not the fluid level either, I just put the trans in last fall and changed the fluid then. Im almost positive its a bearing, im just not sure which one...any help is appreciated...

If the noise is present in 4th gear and you are positive about that, the noise might be coming from the differential.

I know for a fact its not the rear differential. I bought the trans with about 3k miles on it and the guy told me about the noise prior to buying it. It hasn't got any louder or worse since ive had it, but I want to fix it while I have it out.

Usually a bad bearing will not make a whining sound. If its whining its normally a bad set of input and cluster gears but that doesn't make noise in 4th gear.
