Default How quick will my stock T56/LS7 clutch bite the dust

with 550-600 RWHP Planning on doing a 5.3L turbo setup and I know replacing the rear end is a given...is the transmission and clutch going to bite the dust during the dyno tune, or will it handle a modest amount of abuse?

It's a crap shoot all based on how you drive it. Kinda like the same question "when will my 10-bolt blow?"

Won't last long if you hammer the sh*t out of it. What I find is the HP rating of the LS7 is based on race weight of a C6 Z06 which you are no where near that level so your putting more stress on that clutch. based on that info, what it can handle has been reduced.

As far as the trans I have heard ones holding but with the stock F body shift fork being junk, I expect that to go first. IF its a internal hard part that your asking about.

So in order of what goes first:

1) Clutch
2) Shift Ford
3) Pads on the Fork

I dont really beat on it now or do hard launches, but that could change once I have another 300 hp on tap. Mainly just a weekend cruiset with a trip to the track a few times a year. I should probably just go ahead and figure a clutch/transmission into the budget I suppose.

I would. IMO.

Upgrades typically to the trans is Shift Forks with Pads, Synchros, Blocker Rings, and possibly seals. The clutch is up to you and how you drive it. I am a big Textralia fan but there are many sponsors here and depending on driving habits and power, a twin disk may be in order.

Make sure you get a Tick performance Master Cyl.

Your LS7 will not have a happy life with all that power. If you baby the car it will probably last a long time, but once you start having some fun it will give up pretty quickly. Give me a call at the shop and I can get you a Monster Clutch at a great price!
