I have a 2000 Z28 with a 408, making ~500hp and ~470tq at the wheels. I currently have a Ram HD that is slipping after about a year and 3/4 or so (it might have been in longer, but I've only been back in country for that long). It is a daily driver, and I have only had it on the track once, maybe twice. The 408 went in last october. I do plan on spraying a 150 or so shot in the near future (my wife won't let me do it until we have a third car).

I don't want a SPEC. I had a stage 3 a few years ago, and despite me being overseas for most of the time I had it, it died QUICK. I don't know what caused the problem, but regardless, I was out of warranty due to the time overseas, and out a clutch. The local shop I called recommended me a Monster stage 3, and I'm looking for suggestions. Once I have a third car and the nitrous, I do plan on TRYING to make it to the track more often, but realistically it will be a joy riding car for the weekend.

Do you have a Tick Performance adjustable master cylinder? I would recommend one to make sure you are getting full disengagement for your aftermarket clutch, not to mention shifting is much easier. Bench bleed it before you put it in, replace your slave cylinder if you haven't, and make sure everything is good to go with the clutch hydraulic system. You should also measure to see if your clutch setup needs to be shimmed.

As for the clutch itself, Monster Clutch level 3 seems to be pretty popular.

Yeah considering monster level 1-4 is almost all the same price from Tick, you might as well get level 4 since you have a serious engine on your hands.

I would suggest the Diamond Stage 2. The Stage 2 is a Dual Friction disc, which is ceramic/metallic on one side and full-faced copper-woven carbon kevlar on the other side. The setup offers stock driveability, yet is rated at 600hp so it will handle plenty of abuse. The main difference between this clutch and other competitors is that is a full 12in setup, carries a 12mo/12k warranty, & comes complete with a 15lb billet 4140 Chromoly Flywheel. This metal is superior to most other billet flywheels on the market. It is specifically designed to resist heat, which prevents warpage, and extends the life of the disc.

Mcleod RST or RXT twin, You wouldn't believe how amazing these clutches drive on the street. The pedal is nice and light and engagement is silky smooth. Feels like a stock clutch....... until you hammer it! I my self, went with the RXT twin. I'll never go back to a single disc clutch with a ridiculously heavy pressure plate that give your left leg a work out if you get stuck in traffic! The RXT is rated to a 1,000 hp and it drives like stock, what more could you ask for?

I have the spec 3+ now (2nd one, first one went out pretty quickly but I think that was more to do with tuning issues causing me to slip the clutch, current one seems fine) and was thinking of trying one of the Mcloed twins listed above next time.
