Default strange shifting...asap...help

Hello, I have a 2002 Trans am...6 speed. My problem is that when i shift slowly...into just about any gear....it grinds....for example....say I am cruising around town....ok im in second...I want to go to third....i clutch....(to the floor) and shift slowly....comfort style....easily....and about half way into the geara as in half way between N and 3rd....it grinds....some times you can just feel the teeth hitting through the shifter...others it is a full grind....sounds as though it isnt fully disengauged....It does it as consistantly as rain....I took it to a GM dealer and they had a bunch of guys drive it and nothing....then they have me take one for a ride....i get it to do it....they try...nothing.....it doesnt do it when i throw it into gear....i can always force it so fats you dont hear the grinding....I can feel it but they dont.....they just said I must not be pushing stright up or down...so i purposely try to not go stright up or down...pushing sideways as i go up into a gear...no that isnt the problem....I am not a damn retard. I am 19...so they thought I was full of ****..I can work on them better than their guys....but when they do it = Free, I am a broke college student. I can drive a standard....lets assume that I drive now...just like i did for the first year I owned it...(which it didnt do this then)....what do you guys think.....the clutch is fine...it doesnt slip...it catches just like it used to. etc etc......what is my problem???

I think your shifting to fast, try slowly throwing the gear.I have a Richmond 6-speed in a 70 Chevelle and I was having the same problem when I shifted into 6th gear,I would get a grind and a clunk. It turned out that I was throwing the gear to quickly, and I wasn't giving the syncro's enough time to slow down to mesh properly with the gear.Have someone that is experienced with a stick ride with you and have him watch how you shift. The 6th gear on a Richmond is very small and needs more time to slow down.
I bet that's your problem and after that change your fluid.

thanks for thr help....I have checked the fluid...it is fine...it doesnt have air in it either...the pedel feels normal too....it isnt when i shift fast....only when i shift slowly...if I shift like im racing it is ok....sort of....I can feel it grind then it doesnt. I dont know....this is with the pedel to the floor.....if you want to know what it sounds like.....go out start your car (if it is stick) and forget the clutch....try to push it into a gear.....that sound like teeth grinding together....that is what I hear while the clutch is against the firewall....

First off
if you are sittin still and you push in the clutch and put it in gear does it grind?
all Gears????
And to do this test you need to have the car running, ANd let the clutch out to get the tranny spinning between each gear.
How far up does the pedal come before you feel it tryin to engage.

Ok
From you sig I see you like to race.
And you have a pretty good time there for your mods.
So you know how to race.
Which means you are hell on your tranny like I am.
Well only when I race.
The only thing I can't see is your milage.
if you have more that 20000 miles and you like to race alot. (ie everyweek)
I would say that you have worn out blocker rings.
Time for a rebuild
Send me your tranny and I'll rebuild it for 60 bucks plus parts

I have 11K miles....on the car. fairly new. I dont run it hard unless I am at the track...It doesnt do it when Im sitting still...not usually. I am yet to get it to anyway..It only happens while driving....it starts to catch around 1" or so off the floor....which is exactly where it caught when I bought it... yeah. I actually have a few more things on it than listed....nothing to do with the clutch or slave..that is all stock.

Mine is about 3 or 4 inches off the floor
But I Made an adjustable rod for my stock Master
before I installed it I guess it caught up close to even with the brake pedal.
Again I have a SPEC clutch too.
An inch off the floor just seems WAY too low to me.
