How would you compare these 2 clutches, and which would you recommend for my GTO?

Default How would you compare these 2 clutches, and which would you recommend for my GTO?

I need a clutch. Right now is a good time to get one with the sales going on. MY vehicle is a 2006 gto. Heads, cam, headers, intake manifold, etc... about 485rwhp. 6 speed. Its my daily driver, doesnt see the track, just shooting from stop light to stop light and highway use.
I want a clutch that will hold up to a pounding and the horse powah, obviously, but i also want a clutch that is going to last a while.

So i am looking at either the Spec stage 3+ OR the Monster stage 3.
Both handle similar HP. I would really like people who have used said clutches to give their opinion, and not have people who have never used either tell me whichthey recommend due to it being the popular clutch at the moment.
thanks.

I've never used a monster and I say use a monster lol I have used a SPEC 3 and was less than pleased with its performance. In fact, its still in my closet in the Exedy box from the twin I bought to replace it with. Looks great! Make you a hell of a deal! lol

The Monster is probably a decent choice. I have heard of "issues" with Spec clutches. However, I run a McLeod RXT in my car with a Tick Master. I do track the car on a regular basis. The RXT is very streetable. I would just say go with the best your budget allows you. I don't feel its worth skimping on a clutch. After running a dual disc in my Vett since 2007 I won't ever go back to a single disc but, thats just my preference.

Monster seems to make a good product. I like the looks of the ACT clutches as well. The Mcleod twins are amazing my buddy has 800rwhp tt gto and uses just the RST twin with stock hydraulics and its really nice. He does want to upgrade to the RXT and upgrade master but the RST is holding the power now and pedal feel is almost stock

I'd go with monster as well. My old Trans Am had a centerforce dfx in it. Once that was starting to burn out, I got a monster stage 3. Even with a stock master cylinder, it was a night and day difference. It would hold a harder launch and shift smoother. I even had some fun with it before I finished the "break-in period" and it never skipped a beat. The TA may not have as much power as your GTO does(my ~405 to you 485), but it still had plenty of power to screw something up if it was gonna happen

I would go monster. The only problem with them is the squealing. This can be caused by slipping it to much and putting a glaze on it. I need to change my driving style a little and it will go away. It holds great.

thanks for all the opinions guys. i really appreciate it. this mcleod RST you speak of, how much does it go for? Can I use the stock GTO flywheel, or must i upgrade to their flywheel? I dont want a lightweight aluminum flywheel, i would go with the billet steel.

i think the rst goes for around 800-900 and can use the stock flywheel.

Thanks. Click the website in my sig for more info on Diamond Clutch. They have not been marketed as widely as Monster, but it is just as good Also has the 12mo/12k warranty.
It's $799 shipped for a Stage 3 complete kit w/ billet chromoly flywheel and slave included. Also throwing in a free remote bleeder kit w/ purchase.

l love my monster 3,its never gave any problems even with 6500 clutch dumps on a 150 shot and slicks.well it gave my strange drive shaft a problem....i was hot lapping mine and it never slipped.it will find week spots, on my car it bent the wheel studs and broke the spicer yoke on my strange cromoly ds.it has no chatter and i have the lightweight flywheel and it drives better than the ls6 clutch that i pulled out.

Quick Reply: How would you compare these 2 clutches, and which would you recommend for my GTO?
