if there is a locking nut how can i take that off? i have some tools but it's just like a small kit in my car, but i have the basic ones. i've just been using my hands because i don't see anything to use tools on
Once you have the entire piece off, you can experiment more with the table mounted vise grips (if you have them), but I would be damn sure that the teeth on the tools don't tear up the leather on the factory shift ****. Mine actually came right off with both hands. Maybe you can try spraying a tiny bit of PB blaster into the start of the threading.
