Default Hard clutch pedal

Im having a little issue with my clutch pedal. Well i hope its little. When I first get in my car, the first time i push in my pedal its vey stiff. After I push it in a couple times, it goes back to normal and will drive perfect after that. It been going on for about a week now. should I be worried? Thanks

What clutch is being used? Have you noticed any issues with the pedal being softer than normal? Or have you seen any other variance in terms of effort? Will the car creep if the pedal is depressed for any longer period of time? Let me know and I will be happy to assist you further.

Lately the car sometimes has a rock hard pedal before i start it and then it slowly gets soft and then sometimes its way to soft while driving to the point your thinking the car won't even shift, but it still does, but theres almost no resistance. Stock hydraulics and stock clutch 2000z28

Another thread with no resolution so I'm resurrecting this 9 year old thread! This is the exact symptom that is happening on my car. Pedal is very stiff after the car has been sitting for a while. After the car warms up it gets more normal. No problems with engagement or disengagement.

Clutch was replaced in Oct 2018 with a RAM Dual and new GM slave from Tick. Clutch has been super nice until a few months ago when it started getting noticeably stiffer when cold. Tick master cylinder is pretty old as it was replaced about 9 years ago. I'm leaning toward the the replacing the master but would like to get a second opinion before I drop 300+ bucks on a new one.

Your either have a clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder issue. When was the last time the system was flushed of the old fluid?

Fluid was flushed when clutch was replaced. Might be time to do it again?

I'd start by flushing the clutch and slave first to see if there's an improvement as that would be the cheapest place to start.

That will be next on my list then. Shouldn't be too hard, I had the gen 1 Tick speed bleeder installed with the new clutch.

So I flushed out the clutch hydraulics yesterday and couldn't believe what came out. After flushing the pedal feel immediately improved. Checked it again today and it was still nice and smooth. I didn't think it was possible for a transmission shop to leave a bunch of old fluid in the system when changing a clutch. Apparently, it is because there's no way fluid could get that nasty after only 16 months and not driven that hard. That's 9+ year old fluid folks.

Adding this to my annual list of routine maintenance items.

Who else has a sticky pedal out there? Post your dirty clutch fluid here!
