Question for those runnin the spec stage 3
Today i installed my spec stage 3, with billet flywheel, light weight pressure plate option and all that nice stuff. haha Ive put about 50 or so miles on this clutch and no matter how hard i try to get it not to chatter it does anyway. about the only way i can try to prevent this, is to rev it up more than i usually do with any other clutch and let it out pretty fast! Did anyone else this problem with chatter really bad! Can some people maybe give me some help on how to try to avoid so much chatter! thanks

Mine does the same thing, however i bought the car with the clutch in it so i thought it was because he didnt resurface the flywheel, but i guess all spec 3 clutches do it. I to have to rev it up higher from a stop in order for it not to do it, i have just leared to deal with it. I also have problems with inconsitacny of the clutch pedal, sometimes it grabs high and sometimes it grabs low But it works really well, so i have left it alone

On off clutches grab hard.
Organic will be smoother but won't hold the HP.
Spec stage 3 is a organic / ceramic mix that gives it a little better streetabilty but it is still real grabby.

I had the same problem with my SPEC III when I first got it. Even after the first 500 miles it still chattered. I then took it to the track on the advice of a racing friend of mine and tried a couple of 3000 RPM launches....WOW what a difference, no more chatter. I have had this clutch installed for almost 16,000 miles and hundreds of races and it still holds like the day I put it in!

Did u remember to place the shim behind the slave? That's going to make a differance. I had no trouble with mine. I also have the drilled pressure plate and sanded my insert in the alluminum flywheel with a DA and a 100grit paper.

My stage 4 was a bear to drive when it was new, even for 600 or so miles... ONE trip to the track for some 5500 RPM dumps, and it drives WONDERFULLY ... Long story short, BEAT the SNOT out of it, it loves it

The only real big trouble i having right now is, well the day i installed it the clutch was almost releasing on the floor, about an inch up now bout 260 miles later the damn thing is almost all the way at the top, so i called spec and they told me to jerk the tranny back out and make sure that the pressure plate bolts where not backing out, well theres no use in doin that b/c i torqued them and put lock tight on them! And they also told me since my car was an 01 that i didnt need an adjustable master to get my disengagment and ingagment right so now i dont know what the hell to do, and the clutch as been bled like 5 times in the last 2 days so i know that it doesnt have air in it. ????????????????????? anybody got an advice they can give
