Reverse problems
Hey I need help diagnosing my firehawk. Its a 2000 firehawk and I'm having trouble making it stay in reverse.it keeps popping out and will sometimes make a grinding noise as it slipped out until I take the shifter away from the gear. Also it has been grinding going into third if I shift hard but goes in fine if I shift real easy. Please help I'm hoping I don't need a transmission

A rebuild of the whole tranny? or is it just replacing those parts you just mentioned? I'm not very savvy on big maint. like this. also do you have any idea how much it would cost? and is it something I can do or should I bring to a shop. Thanks for your input!

I have the same problem with reverse, most likely wear pads on the fork. Not alot of fun to change from what I've heard. Was racing today and make a quick grind noise going into 3rd and lost ALOT of power, I'm a really quick shifter and sometimes release the clutch before it's all the way in gear. Was fine after thou and had full power, not sure what happened. Haven't gotten the fork pads priced yet. Check out this thread a guy explained to me how to change it
