Default Tough shifting at high RPM

I have a '98 Z/28 M6, shifts pretty smooth for the most part (normal driving). When I get on it and try to shift 1>2 up at ~5800 RPM, I find myself having to man it into gear and sometimes I miss it. I mean I really gotta give it a nice tug to get it in gear... If I shift slowly it'll go in fine, but for obvious reasons, I don't want to shift slow. Any way to know Exactly what the problem is? My *guess is my syncro but I'm still an amateur. I've been told it's my master/slave cylinder and/or possibly my synchro. Any help to diagnose this would be appreciated.

Thanks

-Marcus

Marcus, read the following page on your stock hydraulics (and why you likely need to upgrade your master cylinder) here: http://www.tick-performance.com/imag...kshiftfaq.html

Pay careful attention to the section titled "How can I tell if I need to upgrade to the Tick Performance Adjustable Clutch Master Cylinder Kit?"

tick master all the way. dont mess around with the stock master, there is no comparison and no reason not to get a tick if you plan on running the car

Stock LS1 Z/28. so my guess is around 300? Just got a cutout that will be put in the sock i-pipe pretty soon, so should be around ~305ish.

Stock clutch may be starting to slip, causing the limp pedal. It will only get worse when you start making more power.

Yea I now believe it's a combination of that, a bad 2nd gear synchro, and the crappy GM master cylinder. Because 2nd gear is the most difficult to shift into.

I think a new clutch will solve a lot of your problems. I'd definitely recommend it before you do any more damage to the synchro. I recommend flushing the tranny fluid to see if that helps when installing the new clutch as well. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Chris, 817-750-2000

Yea that sounds like a good idea since I have plans on adding power in the future. Thanks!

Gonna replace all of my hydraulics + clutch when I get my transmission rebuilt.

Any chance I can get a discount if I do both through tick?

I'm going to look into this too... Tick hydraulics are among the best I've seen and I plan to make more and more power whenever I have the funds so I also need to drop the stock clutch in my Z/28. So most likely a sintered iron clutch will be my choice. Can't wait to get pasrts from Tick/Monster!
