Pro-shifted T56 @ the track
Finally got the pro-shifted T56 to the track this past weekend at the SBSO.
I don't know if I've ever been to the track and *not* missed a gear. Or at least had 'delay' going in to gear, or a grind.
Never happened on Saturday. I hit every gear, bang-bang-bang. Leave the gas pedal on the floor and don't lift. Goes in gear like butter. Still using the clutch pedal, but it just works so easily.
Only one pass can I remember hitting the rev limiter between shifts. Other than that, it went in to gear as fast as I could pull the stick.
I give it a thumbs up. It's probably not daily driver friendly, but for a weekend warrior / dragstrip duty, I don't know why I put it off for so long.
Great mod.

Parts were $280. Labor was free.
I build my own trannies. They're pretty easy to work on.
You have to send them your 2, 3, 4/input shaft, along with the 1-2 and 3-4 sliders. They modify all of them and send them back to you. I have 2 trannies, so I had the parts 'laying around' while my car was still in action. One is now pro-shifted, the other is not. I also did stuff like a steel 3-4 fork, had to get a new mainshaft, and some other pieces. I probably have about $1200 total in the tranny.

I didn't get any comparable passes at the shootout. My 60' times were off in San Antonio. So I don't know quite yet. The more I got used to it, though, the better my times got. I posted all of my timeslips in the SBSO forum (in the Billingsley post). I'll have to see once I get back to my 'home turf'.

Unfortunately no, I didn't see me in any of those pics, and I don't think I stuck well enough to pull the wheels by any significant margin. Best 60' of the day was a 1.55, with most around a 1.57-1.59. Give me a good 1.48 (like I've pulled at TAD) and I'll yank 'em tho. The track just couldn't hold a 6500 RPM 2-step launch. Given more time, I might've found a sweet spot for shock settings / 2-step settings, but I didn't have time to mess with it on Sunday.

After a while you will be able to do it without using the clutch or just barely touching it. I ran a new process (chysler) 'crash box' box behind a BBC and its was the same thing, welded blockers and every other tooth off the syncros and gear/blocker. I was able to do all four w/o the clutch. or just barely tapping it and letting off the gas just a tiny bit - it would almost pull itself in the next gear if you did it right. Not a lot of fun driving on the street though unless its mostly highway..
Glad its working out for ya

It goes in to gear just fine driving around. It wouldn't be a problem on the street (IMO). Bug is right, it's like a sloppy rear end - at low throttle / regular shifting, there's a good 'thunk' and a bit of a jump when it goes in to gear. But there's no clash on 2 thru 4. The gaps are wide enough to where it always seems to go in to gear without issue. Just the 'thunk'.
The only time I'd say it's not streetable is first gear. You do have to be stopped to get it engaged, or it clashes. But with 4.56 gears out back, I can start off in second just fine if need be. And shift to 5th if I want to at about 35-40 mph.

That's the only vid I know of right now. Nothing 'in car' yet.

glad you like it. I love mine at the track..I had a miss shift this weekend but that was driver error...oh well. I don't think I had anything go right for me anyway this weekend....so it was par for the course.
I agree that driviing on the street will just take some getting use to. There is no reason it can't be drivin unless your just spoiled with the syncros. Plus..you have a spare if you want to take it for a trip or something..just throw in the other one.
