Default Tranny Mount causing y-pipe to bang?

I had my exhaust tweaked on by a muffler shop after my header install to stop the Y from banging but now it's doing it again. Seems the tranny mount could be the culprit. I'm not 100% sure, but has anyone tried or heard of poly tranny mounts?
Oh yea, the car's a M6. I'm not sure if another stock mount would last very long if that's the problem. Thnx. Any info appreciated!

Make sure it's the mount, it could be the y-pipe hitting the driver side floor or the left header hitting the frame of the car.

You could try a 1LE mount first. Some guys have experienced false knock from using a poly-mount. The 1LE mount is stiffer then the OEM mount but not as solid as the poly unit.

After taking mine off 3 times I've got my jet Hot Y to the point where it is good under normal driving, but under HEAVY torque it bangs under my drivers seat...I'll be installing a new tranny mount soon as well, hope it works...if not, then I'll try engine mounts.

I used to have the stock Y-pipe bang even when I had the 1LE, when I switched to a poly mount it doesn't bang anymore. Now I have a Hooker LT w/ORYP and it doesn't bang at all. Get the Poly trans mount and that should fix it. I used to hate it when I shift into second and my y-pipe bangs the hell out of the car.

If you're hearing a knock when your in the process of taking off or slowing down... It may be that you need to notch the K-Member..

You can definitely tell the difference between the k-member knock and the y on the floor board..

I hope you get this worked out..

My K member is notched, that's another long story. That is my second drivers side header because even when I put the notch in the K member, it would still hit on take off. Jet Hot replaced it, and it's been great since.

I have some definite Banging under the seat on hard take offs, that I hope to fix in the next 2 weeks with a new mount.

Thanks for the responses, I did notch the k-member and it's definately the y-pipe banging again. It only does it on takeoffs and hard shifts to 2nd.
My tranny mount seems to be flexing alittle more than normal I guess. A guy at another muffler shop said it was cracked and there was no need for them to bend the exhaust down anymore until I got a new mount. I'm still wondering about the poly mount though, I wouldn't think it would throw a knock code would it?
Thanks again for the help, I NEED to order a mount!

I've had quite a few people warn me abotu the increased drive train noise becaues of the Poly mounts...is the 1LE mount a stock item at GM? I guess I'll calla round and find out.

Go get another stock tranni mount and have someone weld a valve spring between the y-pipe and floor board. That will solve your problem.
